The Constitution should not change because allowing it to change will allow people to hinder people’s rights. One way it will hinder individuals’ rights is different groups who advocate for different subjects will try to get laws passed that could hurt the economy and hinder rights like the right to bear arms (Debate, 2020). Another way it will hinder individuals’ rights is that the Constitution should be understood as it’s stated and should not have rights altered in a way that will limit people’s rights (Debate, 2020). The United States’ gun rights will be limited by banning assault rifles and guns considered overkill. Also, activists might try to limit oil production (Debate, 2020). Finally, it will hinder people’s rights because if the Constitution needs to change, amendments are there to make necessary changes to the Constitution if it is needed, so there is no reason to edit the Constitution with the times (Debate, 2020). That is how editing the Constitution will hinder people’s rights.

Another reason that the Constitution should not get renewed is that the United States should keep its main beliefs and ideas. One reason the U.S. should just keep it’s the main ideas it has now is there are ways to change the Constitution without having to completely change the whole Constitution along with people’s rights and laws that could affect the nation in harmful ways (ENotes Editorial, 2010). Another reason the United States should stick with the main ideas is that if the Constitution is changed with the times, it will have changed so much that it will lose its authority and the original importance of the Constitution (ENotes Editorial, 2010). Finally, the United States should keep its beliefs and ideas because, with the basic ideas that the Constitution laid out, there is a lot of room for flexibility and room to change without actually editing the document (ENotes Editorial, 2010). We should not change the Constitution with the times because the Constitution protects the rights of the people. One way the Constitution protects the rights of the people is that it allows the government to act on a national level without having complete control of everything that goes on within the United States (The White House, n.d.). Another way it protects our rights is by informing people what their rights are and how they are born with some of their rights while showing what people can and can’t do. Finally, the Constitution protects people’s rights by establishing accordance between both the national government and the state government (The White House, n.d.). That is how the Constitution protects our rights, and if it is changed, it could weaken our rights.

The Constitution should not be changed because of its flexibility and simplicity. The Constitution is simple and flexible because its rights allow flexibility and help explain simply what rights you have and what you can do. The Constitution is also flexible and simple because the amendments help lay the foundation for the United States and gives flexibility while also providing simple laws, rules, and rights (United States Government, n.d.). That is how the Constitution is flexible and simple.

Reasons the Constitution Shouldn’t Change

In all, the Constitution does not need to change for many reasons.
