Essays about friends

Friendship is a significant element of our daily lives. A solid friendship can help us deal with stress, improve self-worth, and keep us strong. Throughout our whole life, we encounter different kinds of people, but not everyone is suitable for you to be friends with. I am very lucky to have such a friend with who we share similar values and beliefs. As I spend more time with her, I noticed her unique personality attracted me and changed me a lot compared to my other friends. Her sociability, maturity, and our mutual understanding had made me appreciate her appearance in my life.

My Friend as My Role Model

Ever since I was a child, I have been very shy and timid. Although I am trying to become inviting and friendly, it is still difficult for me to avoid nervousness around people. Meanwhile, my friend can make friends easily in any circumstances. In school, she naturally opens topics with people next to her and engages in conversation confidently. At work, she quickly gets along with her colleagues and builds deep connections with them. Over time, she develops a large social network. Whenever I see her, she is constantly smiling and chatting with others. Moreover, her open-mindedness guides her to hear new ideas and meet new people from different cultures. Even with opponents, she would listen and consider their claims. After knowing her, she encourages me to try new things and brings me out of my comfort zone. Her enthusiasm to seek out the opportunity of social contact with others impressed me a lot. As a friend, this is a character I envy a lot and wish to develop.

My Friend’s Mature Personality

Another personality trait I admire is her maturity. Even though we have the same age, her mindset is way full-grown than average teenagers. For example, she would consider her parent’s hard work outside and give most of her savings to her family, although her parents did not ask for anything from her. I respect her contributions to her family because it is rare for a teenager to take this responsibility consciously. Besides, she often offers academic and personal help to me. During exam week, she sacrifices her time to teach me patiently when I ask her for help. On top of that, she is always the first person who comes to my mind when life seems unfair because I know she will be there and support me by giving me pragmatic suggestions. Even though she has seen me at worst, she helped me to be my best. She would always wait until I finish my sentence and respond based on my point of view. Having a friend like her makes me feel steady and practical. She is my companion as well as my mentor. I believe in the advice and the words she said because of her ability to get past her desires and consider the needs of others. It is truly my luck to have her as a friend.

Mutual Understanding and Honesty

Lastly, the most important thing I like about my friend is our mutual understanding. We have a strong relationship between us which words cannot explain. We can communicate just with a word, eye contact, or a gesture. We are at the point where we can finish each other’s sentences. Rather than ingratiating or pretending in front of people, I can be myself facing her. We can talk on the phone for hours with infinite topics and we wouldn’t be awkward even if there is a moment of silence. From these four years of friendships, she probably knows me more than my parents, or sometimes better than myself. I would share almost anything with her because of our trust in each other. The mutual understanding and honesty between us cannot be substituted by anyone else in the world.

Importance of Good Honest Friendship

People come and go in our life and only a good honest friendship will last long. Even though we are not attending the same school now, we still meet each other once a while and reminisce about our good old days. This does not make our feelings fade, instead, we cherish the moment we are together even more. She obtains features that just make me like her. Her sociability becomes the driving force that pushes me outward, her maturity brings me comfort as a big sister, and her compatibility makes our relationship one of a kind. Life continues its incredible journey, and I have met many new schoolmates in college, but none can replace her place in my mind.
