Muscles are fibrous tissues in the body that contract, produce force and allow for movement. They are made up of long, thin cells called muscle fibers, which are connected to tendons or directly to bones. There are three types of muscle in the body: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac. Skeletal muscles attach to bones and allow us to move, while smooth muscles are found in organs and blood vessels, and cardiac muscles are found in the heart. Muscles need proper fuel and exercise to function at peak performance, and can also be affected by injury or disease.
