The eye is a complex organ that allows us to see and interpret our surroundings. It consists of various parts such as the cornea, iris, pupil, lens, retina, and optic nerve. The cornea acts as a protective outer layer, while the iris and pupil control the amount of light that enters the eye. The lens focuses the light onto the retina, which contains specialized cells called rods and cones that convert light into electrical signals that are sent to the brain via the optic nerve. Together, these processes enable us to perceive the colors, shapes, and movements of objects around us.
