Why Taylor Swift is the Best Role Model for Many
It’s no secret that most of the recognisable names that we always hear on the radio like to hog the spotlight, never seem to know the right thing to say, and well… others are just very hateable. That’s why it’s so mind-blowing to have someone like Taylor Swift taking over the music industry and using her powers to make a change while remaining true to herself and loyal to her fans.
My very first reason for choosing Taylor Swift as my role model is because of her music. There are so many musicians who write about going to the club, making love with their lovers and…well, you know the sort. On the other hand, Taylor writes about the real situations that she has dealt with and as a result of this, her songs are very meaningful. Not only does it make her much more relatable, but it also makes her feel more like a friend rather than just a random celebrity. Personally, I find her songs very relatable and inspiring. I can proudly admit that I have heard every single one of her songs and she truly does cover a range of different moods in her songs to make it relatable to most of us out there. Do you have a crush who is completely clueless that you’re daydreaming about him/her every second of your life? So did she in ’You Belong With Me’ and ’Teardrops On My Guitar’. Are you feeling blue, down, or even a bit left out? Then you should probably listen to ’Mean’. Are you absolutely furious at your ex and are feeling revengeful? Well… ’Blank Space’ and ’I knew you were trouble’ are the perfect matches for you! Or you’re oppositely blindly in love. Which in that case you should most definitely listen to ’Red’ and ’ME!’. Not to mention that her lyrics have always been clean. It’s thrilling… to be able to play any of her albums and not worry about your younger siblings sitting in the back of the car.
Taylor Swift Empowering Other People
My second reason for choosing Taylor Swift as my role model is because she empowers other women. Despite the backlash of the public about her being a feminist, she is always looking for a chance to be an inspiration for young girls and looks out for other women. Taylor has spoken out about being a feminist and has shown her support for Emma Watson in her mission to diminish the stereotype associated with feminism. And in past International Women’s Day (2016), she took the Pledge For Parity. When Taylor Swift was introduced as Billboard’s first-ever Woman of the Decade, she called out the institutionalized sexism she has witnessed in the industry over the last decade. She also proudly shows her support for Lana Del Rey and described her as the “most influential artist in pop” and called out Scooter Braun by name for buying her music against her wishes. She also does a lot behind the scenes. She donated $250,000 to Kesha after the court ruling to help with her case. She’s also regularly seen at hospitals supporting patients. She even appeared at a fans’ wedding after she received an invite. It’s little things like that, that makes her a great role model.
Conclusion
Finally, she is a very successful businesswoman. Swift’s fifth studio album ‘1989’ sold 4 million copies in the U.S. 12 weeks after its release. She also trademarked lyrics including “Party like it’s 1989”. At the age of 25 she owned $86 million worth of real estate including a waterfront mansion in Rhode Island, Nashville estate for her parents, Nashville penthouse condo, a Tribeca penthouse and a 3 bedroom house in Beverly Hills. There is no doubt about her success as according to Forbes, she became one of the world’s highest-paid celebrities with an income of $185 million in 2018. Swift’s net worth was an estimated $360 million as of June 2019. Not to mention that her Reputation Stadium Tour was the highest-grossing tour in US history, grossing over $266 million. Taylor is mostly known for selling out arenas with her catchy ballads about life, love, heartbreaks, cherry-red lips but most importantly, people’s rights by telling the haters to “calm down” and being supportive of the LGBTQ+ community.
