The Many Challenges Faced by Parents When Raising Their Children

Parenting, which is the process of supporting and promoting a child's social, intellectual, emotional and physical development of a child, is both a technical and tasking process (Aronson and Aronson 23). Parents typically go through a lot of challenges in ensuring that a child grows into a peaceful, affectionate and cooperative adult. Parents need to take both educative and protective measure to ensure that the child grows into a responsible person (Aronson and Aronson 41).

As a parent to a young child, there is need to take precaution measures to ensure that the child does not watch violent television shows.

According to Brook, internal emotions that are too deep determine the outward thinking that helps us make decisions (Aronson and Aronson 43). From this perspective, what the child sees on television affects his decision making in real life. As a responsible parent, I would give my child some tasks to handle during the time of the show. I would also ensure that these tasks are what he enjoys doing the most to prevent him from boredom.

I would regularly sit with the child and assist where he finds difficulty in handling issues. If for example my child likes to draw, I would provide him with all necessities and guide him on how to use the tools and equipment.

A child needs to be prevented from playing with violent toys like guns and swords. As a parent, I would ensure that all the toys I buy for my child are healthy and not risky (Aronson and Aronson 51).

Before my child goes out to play, I would ensure that I have a look at the toys he has taken. I would also play with my child regularly to ensure that he understands the need of playing with safe toys. I will explain to the child that what he does in the present will determine what he would be in the future. I would explain that for one to become a peaceful child, then he must play with peaceful toys (Aronson and Aronson 59).

Whoever my child plays with is also very crucial for his growth and development. As a parent, I need to watch out on what kind of children my child plays with. To prevent my child from playing with violent children, I would provide an alternative for him. I would play with him or warn him against playing with violent children (Aronson and Aronson 68). I will explain to him that he can be hurt in the process of playing with the violent children.

Bullying is a common phenomenon among playing children (Aronson and Aronson 69). In order to prevent against such behavior, I would teach my child that fighting back is not a solution rather he should walk away from the one bullying him. This trait will help him become a peaceful adult thereby a peaceful society. I would also advise my child that if another child keeps bullying him, he should then report him to me or any other older person who is around. Finally, I would want to eliminate all aggressive behavior in my child. This is because aggressiveness would make him rough and uncooperative. As a parent, I would like my child to become cooperative in the future, and this cannot be achieved if he is aggressive.

In conclusion, a child is driven by the feelings of loneliness which compel him or her to interact. As a child goes through the urge to merge, a parent should advise and guide him on what behavior is morally acceptable in the society (Aronson and Aronson 99).
