Tupac as a Role Model

Many people saw Tupac as someone they should look up too, because he fought for people who got no attention in the media. For example he also spoke to people through his music. In his own words when “When you listen to my music, all my songs have a message. “All my songs are with purpose”. Tupac should be worthy of admiration because he tried to help those in need of help through his music. He had messages in his songs for people who struggled with racism, respect for females and inequality,

Many of Tupac’s songs through out his career were messages for people 2 stand up and go against racism, inequality toward women, and police brutality. For example in “changes”, Tupac raps about how life was for a black individuals in the ghetto with the quote, “Cops give a damn about a negro, pull the trigga kill a nigga he’s a hero” this indicates that when a police officer shoots a black man he isn’t tried or convicted, instead he is rewarded for his unjust actions. he also adds” we gotta start making changes learn to see me as a brother instead of two distant strangers” this explains that if we want to defeat racism ,we must all come together and consider everyone as a loved one instead of strangers we don’t care for.

He has also influenced people through one on one interviews, “I might just be my mother’s child, but in all reality I’m everybody’s child. Nobody raised us; we were raised by society.” he’s explaining that if society see’s blacks as evil and criminals they have no one to blame but themselves because they refused to give them a helping hand, they refuse to listen to their call for help and now there’re demand these things and society has no one to blame but themselves.

Besides having messages in his own song about racism, Tupac inspired people because of how he spoke about females in his song. Songs like” Brenda has a baby “and ”Keep Ya Head Up”. Brenda’s got a baby reached out to the community about teenage pregnancy, and the horrible death of a young prostitute who needed money to take care of her child. The song draws from the plight of the impoverished. Using Brenda to represent young mothers in general, Tupac criticizes the low level of support from the baby is father government and society in general in “keep your head up “he motivates females to keep going no matter how hard life may seem. He also spoke out against raping, beating and disrespecting women. Songs like this have proved Tupac is an admirable figure.

Tupac didn’t influence people only through his music but he became a role model through his actions as well. This shows how he acted as a role model toward those who didn’t have much. For example, during a promo tour stop in Washington DC, he heard on the radio about a young girl who was in the emergency room after being attacked and mauled by a dog. Tupac told the driver to turn around and take him to the hospital. He stayed with her and her family until she fully recovered. Also, Tupac solicited people to sign a petition to keep a community recreation center open.

In 1993, Tupac received a letter from the parents of a dying boy, named Joshua. They said it was Joshua’s last wish to meet Tupac. Tupac flew to Maryland to meet Joshua and took him to a basketball game. Soon after Joshua’s death Tupac renamed his publishing company from Ghetto Gospel Music to Joshua’s Dream. He was also planning a celebrity youth football league where each celebrity involved would sponsor a youth sports team, by buying uniforms and hiring a staff of coaches. This type of leadership is what made him a role model to younger people and made him influential.

Unfortunately, Tupac was gunned down at the age of 25. However, almost 20 years later people still see him as a role model and listen to his music and understand his messages. From Libyan Rebel Fighters, to celebrities like Eminem and NBA Player Amar’e Stoudermire , Tupac has influenced people through his music and his actions all over the world.
