Joining the Government
First of all, religion does not play a part in the government. Before in government, religion was a part in joining the government, or even being affiliated with it. That did not matter anymore. More changed as the government started to shift from monarchies to bureaucracies. They people disliked monarchies and they wanted to learn more.
Also, kings who once had so much power, started to crumble. For instance, one example is in Rome, where its authority was superior, and fell because people didn’t like monarchies.. This a result of people starting to become independent and relying on themselves for success. Also, kings received much more criticism. For example, some people thought that kings were too brutal in their ways.
During this time there four social classes. The nobles, merchants, tradesmen, and unskilled workers. Nobles lived in luxurious places, they controlled most of the area, served as military officers, could step up to be royal advisers to the king himself, or become a politician. Also, a book called The Book of the Courtier, by Baldassare Castiglione said that a noble must be a warrior who can actually fight in a battle. Meaning that they have to be in condition to fight.
Bureaucracy
They were laborers who had no job, no protection, and were basically controlled by their employers. If they ever violated the rules for what they set, they would get punished. Either by having their wages held back, or could be cut from their job and not get any job. Even worse, they won’t have any money. People in urban areas were worse, as they worked for the nobles, and life was very difficult, to make things even worse, starvation was common. This type of system became less popular during the Renaissance however, and people started to make a bureaucracy. Which is a way of fairness in a government. There are famous people throughout history that existed during the Renaissance. Like Leonardo, Michaelangelo, and Raphael. These people helped out in the development of the Renaissance.
Michaelangelo
For instance, Leonardo. He probably is the most famous out of the three. Most known for the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. He was not only an artist, but also a scientist, inventor, architect, engineer, and a more to cover. The way he painted revolutionized how painted was today. Paying attention to details of a drawing people didn’t think about, are just some of the many examples as Leonardo da Vinci is a great artist.
Next up is Michaelangelo. A person who could challenge Leonardo da Vinci as the greatest Renaissance artist went by the name of Michaelangelo. He worked as a poet, artist, architect, and engineer. The piece of art he is known for the most is the sculpture of David. It represented David of the Bible, while also made out of white marble. After that Raphael was known as the best only behind da Vinci and Michaelangelo.
Even though he was alive for just thirty-seven years, he used those thirty-seven years to the fullest. Making paintings, frescoes, prints, and more. A famous work of his is The School of Athens. It represents that it is a classic Renaissance painting. Using Roman and Greek antiquity. The Renaissance changed a lot of things in the world, especially education. So what were its effects? Find out now.
Intellectual Impact
One way the Renaissance changed the world, was by its intellectual impact. There are three different concepts. Humanism, secularism, and individualism. First of all, humanism, was a time of emphasis less on religion, and more of the goodness of people. Secondly is secularism, which separates religion and government away from each other. This was made so that it didn’t matter what religion you celebrated to make the government. Individualism lies in the fact that, like humanism, religion isn’t really a big deal at all. It wants the rights of people above society.
Another way the Renaissance changed the world was by its artistic impact. The Renaissance produced some of the best artists. Previously stated Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello. Or you can call them the Mutant Ninja Turtles. From the High Renaissance, which was some time around the 1490s and 1527, sculptures were mostly made for religious purposes. Also, most of them were given lessons on how to paint, and also were hired to do these jobs because they were careful, and rarely made mistakes.
Another thing that the Renaissance impacted was the economical impact. First of all, the wealth of several countries such as Portugal, Spain, and France, would get more land. As a result, their wealth increased because of that. As a result of these changes, it allowed the countries which did gain land, to get more money, and industry. As a matter of fact, because countries started to gain more money, more money meant more for the low-class. In other words, the development of more money and more territory, was able to benefit those who were in need. Although this may be true, governments started to tax more people to give money to the military and the government.
Raphael, Da Vinci, and Donatello
Finally, we have the religious impact, which we covered earlier, but didn’t dive too deep into. So here we are. Even though most people did away with Christianity most Christian artists did not. People previously mentioned like Micahelangelo, Raphael, Da Vinci, and Donatello. Also, during this time there was the Reformation. Which this paper will not dive into, because this is not what the paper is about. It is the Renaissance. But as a brief summary, in the Reformation, people split between Roman and Eastern Catholic. Roman Catholic traditions were the same, but the tradtions of Eastern catholic were not. Some examples could be that a priest can marry in the Eastern Catholic Church, while a priest in the Roman Catholic Church could not. In the same fashion, the Roman Catholic Church decided to say with a pope, while the Eastern Catholic Chruch decided to not follow the pope. This happened before, which reaches us to the present. When the Counter-Reformation started in the Reanissnace. Some things people wanted changed in the Counter reformation was priests being trained properly, exploratioons to spread Christianity, and equally important, they also set out on these voyages so that they could convert back those who were Christians at one point, then switched to another religion.
