What started plastic, how did plastic begin and why was plastic invented? The answer to these questions are very simple. It all began with John Wesley Hyatt. Hyatt was born in November 28, 1837 and died May 10, 1920. He was an American inventor/ industrialist who discovers the first form of plastic and then created a business with his brother Isaiah. A $10,000 reward was offered to hyatt by a company named new york billiards. It was a reward that would be given to the person who invented a cheaper version of the product that was sold. Hyatt then experimented on things and didn’t stop until he found a ruberry weird texture that was plastic. John Wesley Hyatt then collabed with his brother aisaih and created a Celluloid company or an industrialist that would sell thin layers of plastic. Today we use plastic for almost everything. It is used for packaging things, carrying things, for products like a straws, plastic pencil, cups, plates and many more.

Reusing plastic can help the environment. Plastic is a product that can’t be disposable. It can take hundreds of years for a piece of plastic to disintegrate. Instead of using plastic bags why not go old fashion and use paper bags. Many would say that paper bags are worst for the environment because you are cutting down trees but if one tree is cut down two trees should be planted. It’s a better workforce for the environment. Thinking about the future and if plastic is still being continued to be used planet earth will become a plastic ball floating in space. Another way to save the environment is to actually reuse the plastic the we create, companies make new plastic product instead of reusing the one that is already built but it is cheaper to create new then reuse the old. According to the documentary there is a society plastic coding system that is recycled which are; polyethylene terephthalate – 19.5%, high density polyethylene – 10.7%, vinyl or PVC – 0%, low density polyethylene – 5.6%, polypropylene – 1.7%, polystyrene – .8% and last but not least, other – 6.1%. It is crazy to know that the plastic that we recycle in our home are not really being recycled. It is thrown in the ocean or exported to asia and it is seperated by low income people to separate what they can try to recycle.

The marine life. Beautiful creatures and as mysterious as they can be. We have two beautiful places in this plant, the ocean and land. Both of these places has different creatures and both land and sea animals suffer from the miss respect us as humans have in this earth. All animals have suffered for our mistakes or our cause but the marine life are the ones that are getting hurt the most. Plastic is not in their nature, so sea animals think that everything they see is food. 100 years ago animals were able to find food as they went long but now everywhere they go plastic is what surrounds them. It’s sad and ,mortifying to know that many sea creature will be extinct because of the course of plastic.
