W.E.B. Du Bois was an American sociologist, historian, civil rights activist, and Pan-Africanist. He was born in 1868 and passed away in 1963. Du Bois played a significant role in the civil rights movement and was the first African-American to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He co-founded the Niagara Movement, which pushed for political and economic equality for black people. Du Bois also wrote numerous books, including The Souls of Black Folk and Black Reconstruction in America, which explored the experience of black Americans in the United States. His ideas and advocacy continue to influence civil rights and social justice movements today.
