W. B. Yeats (1865-1939) was an Irish poet, playwright, and politician who played a key role in the Irish Literary Revival of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His poetry was deeply influenced by the Celtic Revival and the occult, and he is recognized as one of the greatest and most influential poets of the 20th century. Yeats’s works explored themes of Irish history and mythology, the supernatural, and the complexities of the human condition. In addition to his literary accomplishments, Yeats was a vocal advocate for Irish nationalism, serving as a member of the Irish Senate from 1922 to 1928.
