When the topic of global citizen is discussed, many people in the community feel aware an understanding of the outer world and their place in it. A global citizen encourages other people of the community to recognize the importance of knowledge, work skills and value to engage with others to create an equal and fair world. The purpose of this paper will cover the benefits of educating people on global citizenship and the importance of global inspirations.
Globalism is referred to as a system to “understand the interconnections of the modern world”, and is often associated with world-systems, this is best described as a global trend.
The video discusses the idea of globalism as a dominant ideology associated with dormant formations of global extensions, this suggests that per-modern traditions are a form of globalism before the turning point of globalization. Interaction and integration among people, companies and governments is known as globalization. It’s because of globalization that individual parts of the world are connected through economic, and international culture and is practiced as communication patterns.
Countries come together as a global economy making international trade simpler through economic globalization, this agreement benefits the country to economic agreements such as lower tariffs, taxed goods and import goods.
The terms refer to the same global phenomenon but have two distinct differences. Globalism describes a world characterized by a it’s connections with continental distances. To better understand the inter-connections of the present world, globalism identifies the underlining arrangement of global structure and explains how it’s functions.
In comparison, globalization focuses on the decrease of globalism and the force of change, this refers to the underlying dynamic of distance in size on a larger scale. Globalism and Globalization are often defined in economic terms, but are both equal forms of separate economic dimensions.
Being a global citizen would mean making a difference in a world that has been corrupted by modern capitalism and would mean making a difference to those who’ lives have been affected by it. In a world that is vastly advancing and changing its way of life, being a regular person who faces the worlds major problems would mean a difference can be made for the sake of the people. One of my goals is to open my own business and giving less fortunate people an opportunity to gain work experience from now and in the future. There are several people who lack the confidence to go out into the world because of the conditions they were brought up in, but if theirs a change to improve their skills to help them real their own goal then it’s a mission I will help them achieve. On of my strongest beliefs is that I don’t believe race, sexuality, or religion is defined by a person, I am a fighter of equal rights for everyone and will go the extra mile to help those in times of trouble and make them feel like there life is worth it.
Theory and research suggest that when global citizen identity is salient, greater identification is related to adherence to the group's content, results of the present set of studies showed that global awareness (knowledge and interconnectedness with others) and one's normative environment (Reysen, S., & Katzarska-Miller, I. 2013). Global citizenship is described as embracing cultural diversity, and promotes awareness of social justice, this theory suggests that value of global citizenship leads to greater content with global citizens. In the article, Reyes & Katzarska-Miller describe global citizenship as “confusing”, the theory regarding global citizenship leads to theories of diverse identity.
The concept “clarifying” is another disagreement Reyes & Katzarska-Miller have had with global citizenship, this suggests that the term has been identified as a way to describe a mis concept of global identity. Predicted identification with global citizens, and global citizenship predicted prosocial values of intergroup empathy, valuing diversity, social justice, environmental sustainability, intergroup helping, and a felt responsibility to act for the betterment of the world (Reysen, S., & Katzarska-Miller, I. 2013). The term global citizen is merely a identification for a person who understands their place in the world, they take the imitative to raise awareness of an equal, livable and fair planet with their community.
When we as a community come together to honor and respect the people round us, we create a safe work environment the values other people’s differences and recognize what makes us unique or different. Valuing diversity is an important characteristic in becoming a global citizen because it creates an identity to our self, and this trait builds stronger abilities, perspectives, abilities and interests that are suitable in an organization. The importance of valuing diversity is especially crucial in the workplace as a global citizen, this value manifests a better reputation for the organization and by leading by example, you’re creating an opportunity to increase awareness of our individual differences. Our ways of thinking and being are still colored by the trapping of old allegiances and ways of seeing things that no longer are as valid as they used to be (Herod, 2014).
It’s human instinct to feel emotions for one person and its human nature to feel empathy during a situation that demands it, but when your identity the emotional perspective of your collective group, then you create that intergroup empathy that is valued as a global citizen. We react and deal with people depending on whether we feel that they are in-group, in the same group, or out-group, in a different group (Venman, 2016). Empathy allows us to share in the emotional spectrum within our group, but intergroup empathy allows us the understand a wider unconscious bias of emotions without stereotypes or prejudice.
Valuing diversity is something I have not fully grasped until I was much younger in my early 20’s, growing up in a religious family you are raised to believe that your people are the only ones you could trust, and for years I strongly believed that. It wasn’t until I was almost raped by my own people that I lost my faith in my own kind, but I gained a stronger awareness for people outside my culture. Years after that experience I was a volunteer TA for a high school anthropology class, and from my there I shared how race and diversity is nothing short of a milestone and recognizing these differences contributes to your potential of being a global citizen.
Growing up in a religious family, you were raised to have empathy for your own people, everyone else would only use that as an advantage over you. I learned intergroup empathy while I was working for Amazon, I was not aware of many of my employee’s religious backgrounds but 8 of our employees were Muslim and would need to be excused from the work floor for religious reasons. I learned this was because they needed to pray and was a part of their religious customs, and in that moment, I granted them a private room to pray in peace and away from any distractions. Having an understanding of someone’s religious background and being understanding of their customs is a component to support social differences and is characterized in ethnicities and cultures.
Humanities and Fine arts are a general education course were students understand the human conditions of the living world, this course analysis the growth and well-being of various communities. The course consists of understanding the methods and theories that comprehend to the human condition, as well as recognizing the reflective method and/or socio-cultural understanding of cultural growth. Understanding the living conditions of cultural communities and their living conditions has helped me increase my awareness and appreciation of traditional humanistic aesthetics. Social science was another general education course and was defined as the study of human beings, and the humanities lifestyle.
Although a majority of people define social science being related ethics and politics, it’s more of a study on people’s behavior and how that influences the community around them. Sociology enlightens us concerning the world past our quick experience, and can help clarify how general public functions -from the reasons for joblessness or what pushes monetary development, to how and why individuals vote, or what fulfills individuals. General education courses have helped me make an effect in my improvements in turning into a worldwide resident. The class the aided this improvement was Social science, we discussed various jobs that are played and required for society to exist. Humanities and fine arts, helped me depict how being a global citizen in a trend setting world can have its advances into achieving educational objectives.
All things considered, the appreciation and comprehension of the worldwide global citizenship, I have understood that it is significant for everyone to understand and disguise these ideas. It ought to be clarified in a method for letting others monitoring the worldwide issues in today’s society. A global citizen is an upstanding resident and complies with the laws that are as a result. On the off chance that everyone treated everyone in the manner in which that they would need to be dealt with the world would be a superior place. Global citizens have the ability to change the world since they interface inside and care about the entire world and its whole individuals which can prompt harmony, a conclusion to world-hunger, natural supportability and worldwide personal satisfaction.
