Whether bible prayer should be allowed in schools or not has been a controversy for a very long time. Many have different points of view on this important issue. The first amendment states the freedom from religion. Denying bible prayer is like violating the amendment. It “diminishes the religious freedom of students who would like…...

Mother Nature

Some of us call her “Mother Nature” while most of us call her “Mother Earth”. The Earth is the only planet in the universe that allows humans to live. The only planet that provides enough sunlight, that provides water for drinking, fresh air to breath, plants, and animals for food, an exact amount of gravity for us to be able to walk, run and jump and all other things that we need to survive are present in here. Everything seems to be perfect because of the wonderful and beautiful things around us. But because of human ignorance, improper disposal of garbage, deforestation, dynamite fishing, overpopulation, development, and advancement of technology the beauty of Mother Earth is starting to fade, which results to hunger and thirst, strong cyclone and typhoons, massive earthquakes, pollution, extinction of other species, suffering and death.

Beauty of God’s Creation

We are born in this wonderful place to witness and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation (nature), to protect and conserve its beauty for future generations. We’re supposed to be the ones who are taking good care of our one and only home, but it seems like we’re the ones who are making ways to ruin it. In fact, the world doesn’t need us, it’s us who needs the world. To tell you honestly, the world is chaos right now not only because of terrorism but also because of ecological imbalance and climate change. And as citizens of the world it should be our duty, no it must be our duty to protect and save mother earth as a payment of all the resources that we consumed and wasted, for allowing us to stay even though we’ve caused a lot of destruction to her.

We all know that a man is an organism that tends towards survival, but how can we be able to survive where there’s no food to eat and no water to drink? How can we be able to survive where there’s no fresh air to breathe, where each and every year or even just months typhoons are there to challenge us. How can we be able to continue living when the one who gives us life doesn’t have the life anymore?

Not Too Late for Change

So I stand here today, informing all of you that it’s not yet too late for change. We are the reasons why these worst things happened, then we must find the solution to solve our own problems. Let’s do this little by little by starting from simple ways of saving mother earth up to the most complicated ways, because at the end of the day our actions will determine our fate. Let that change start within ourselves by changing our ways, renewing our lifestyle, readjusting our minds, by controlling steps and redirecting ourselves, and by that we can make the world a better place.
