Technology-Related Social Issues
Technology can cause many social issues. For example, social media can lead to lack of self-esteem, which can cause many problems for many kids, teens, and even adults. It can in many cases lead to depression which isn’t good for our mind and could even lead to suicidal thoughts. Technology can lead to narcissism, distraction, and expectation of instant gratification. These amount of social issues from a form of communication isn’t healthy, which is the next topic we are going to discuss.
Health Issues
Technology and Gaming are serious health risks. Repetitive strain injuries, skin disorders or other health issues. Many problems include video game-provoked seizures in patients with epilepsy. In rare and extreme cases, deaths have resulted from excessive video game playing. Gaming can also cause Obesity which is a big problem for the US. Another health risk is that Technology can cause hearing loss, neck strains, and multiple vision problems. Technology can lead to Lack of Sleep which isn’t good for the human body because a healthy diet consists of lots of sleep.
Mental Problems
The technology scene has been a human philosophy changer. It can cause many disorders such as schizophrenia, HIV, depression, anxiety, autism, suicide, and trauma. It can have room for cognitive issues, illness management, behavior, and health communication. Mobile has more space for these issues than a Computer does. It makes us think differently, feel differently, even dream differently. It affects our memory, attention spans and sleep cycles. This is attributed to a scientific phenomenon known as neuroplasticity, or the brain’s ability to alter its behavior based on new experiences.
Environmental Damages
The technology world is a massive break through but it also damages the environment at the same time and a lot of it at most. The productions of most of them are one of the main reasons we have global warming. They mostly build their factories in cold places so it can cool down the machines due to massive amounts of heat they produce. This is destroying many of pristine nature spots where they just decide to build massive factories ruining the environment.
No Social Interactions
Social interactions are a vital element of maintaining good mental and emotional health. There is already evidence which suggests that the growing reliance on technology for interactions between grandparents and their children or grandchildren who live elsewhere can lead to increased rates of depression among older people. Technology can make it change the way one has to go to a shop or office to get a particular product or service will be drastically reduced, and hence the opportunity for every day, small social interactions will also be removed. It is being suggested that AI and machines could replace the majority of existing jobs in the future. Given that the workplace plays such an incredibly important role in interactions and thus harms many people are personal. Many people’s lives, the loss of so many jobs could result in a significant reduction in social interactions.
Loss of Morals
Many bully, troll, and abuse of social media, often this behavior is demonstrated by people who wouldn’t dream of behaving in a similar fashion in the real world, but who find that the anonymity and sense of removal in the online world empowers them to act in ways that most people would consider reprehensible. This can cause many problems to others on social media’s who are hurt, offended or saddened by someone else’s actions just because they have a sense of anonymity.
