The season of cricket is over I mean the ICC men’s cricket world cup 2019 has come to an end. The new champions are the ones who have hosted this year “England”. Though they have seen few ups and downs in this edition but still they manage to make the early predictions come true. Many cricket experts had made a point somewhere that England can be the new champions and the statement came true yesterday, when the English Boys lifted the trophy by defeating the crown of the cricket by defeating Newzealand in a super over tie and won in the margin of hitting more boundaries.
Let’s discuss about foundation laid by them in this winning streak.
The English team staff and their captain concentrated more on their opening pairs at the start and even tried many experiments. Jason Roy and Jony Baristow gave them strong starts to build a competitive score and they also gave those accelerations which helped the team to chase down mammoth totals.
The dependable middle order This team have the most tough and tall middle order when compared to any other teams. Root and the skipper Morgan always help the team in chasing or building competitive scores by adding few big contributions to the scoreboard.
The fast and furious lower order The plus point with this team is they nearly carry 9 batsmen in every match. Players like Ben Stokes, Jos Butler, and Moeen Ali gave them the flourish that is required in death over’s while chasing or building tough scores.
They have players like Chris Woakes, and Jofra archer who have the capacity to hit few big blows, which helps in adding 20-25 extra runs to their existing total in every match. Which might be the biggest reason among the few reasons which made England the champions?
Hard bowling and fielding. The English bowling line up can be considered the best among the other cricketing nations. “They say that a good batting can make you win you a match but excellent bowling and fielding wins you tournaments”. The tough bowling line up always brought the results for the home side by defeating India in the league stage, restricting teams like Australia and Newzealand. Their fielders did a tough job and some beautiful catches like Stokes one turned out to be match changing. Their performance as a team was awesome and resulted in making them the champions of the ICC Cricket world Cup 2019.
In addition to the strong opening stands, dependable middle order, and a fast and furious lower order, England's success in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019 can also be attributed to several other key factors that formed the foundation for their winning streak.
One crucial element was the strategic captaincy of Eoin Morgan, who led the team with confidence and made bold decisions, such as promoting Jos Buttler up the batting order, which paid off handsomely. Morgan's leadership played a pivotal role in creating a positive and competitive team culture. Furthermore, England's adaptability throughout the tournament showcased their resilience. They faced challenges, including defeats against Sri Lanka and Australia, but the team learned from these setbacks and made tactical adjustments. This ability to analyze and rectify weaknesses contributed significantly to their success in crucial matches, especially in the knockout stages.
The inclusion of Jofra Archer, a dynamic fast bowler with the ability to clock high speeds, provided a fresh dimension to England's bowling attack. Archer's performances, along with the consistent efforts of experienced bowlers like Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, and Liam Plunkett, bolstered the team's bowling strength. The home advantage also played a role, as the players were familiar with the conditions and enjoyed strong crowd support. The electrifying atmosphere at English venues energized the team, creating an environment conducive to high-performance cricket.
Moreover, England's commitment to fitness and athleticism was evident in their exceptional fielding displays. Outstanding catches, particularly the one by Ben Stokes in the final, showcased the team's dedication to every aspect of the game. In conclusion, England's triumph in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 was a culmination of strategic planning, exceptional individual performances, adaptability, and a collective team effort. Their victory marked a memorable campaign, highlighting their dominance in the limited-overs format and securing their place as deserving champions on home soil.
