Types of cricket games
Cricket has many different ways to play. Cricket has variability to games. For people who like fast-paced games, T20 is a type of game with lots of action. A typical T20 game is played with a 75-minute time limit (Realbuzz, 2019). Another type of game called an ODI, otherwise called a one day international, is played for a much longer period of time. Around 3.5 hours are given to each team to bat. As a result, this game typically lasts up to 7 hours. This version of cricket can appease those people who like to watch strategic games. The Cricket World Cup, which is played once every four years, is also played in the ODI version (“Types of Cricket”). The longest version is called a test. A Test match normally lasts “five days, with each day’s play lasting six hours” (“The difference between Test and limited-overs Cricket”, 2005). This version of the game is for people who like very slow-paced games.
Peculiriarities of the game
Cricket also can be played by anyone. You are able to play on virtually any surface. As long as you have something to replicate the bat, the stumps and a ball, you can play anywhere you want (“What is Cricket”, n.d.). It also has very simple rules that you can follow. The rules are rarely misunderstood and are as clear as day (simile). For example, if the batter hits it and an outfield player is able to catch the ball before it bounces, then the batter is out. The game is over when either the set amount of deliveries are thrown, or when all the batsmen are out (Chicago Tribune, 2019). You can also create your own rules to enjoy cricket the way you want to.
Cricket is also a very unpredictable game. You never know who is going to win. It only takes one good shot from the batting team or one ball from the bowling team to shift momentum. This momentum could get the one team in very high spirits, while the other team can lose all hope. This allows for more anticipation and excitement while you’re watching the game. This anticipation leads to a better game that you can watch with more enjoyment. You can feel your heart pounding in your chest during the ending moments, especially if the game is very close. This could be seen in the IPL T20 final between the SRH and RCB. SRH managed to make 208 runs, which is an impressive score. RCB, on the other hand, had a better start and were able to tally a score of 112 runs with zero wickets by the halfway point of the game. However, SRH’s bowlers, who shined like stars that game (simile), were able to stop this momentum after getting RCB’s star batsmen out. Although SRH came on top, this game was very close and entertaining (“Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Indian Premier League, Final”, n.d.). This is just one of many instances that makes cricket a very enjoyable sport to watch.
