Engineers throughout the centuries have systematically succeeded over virtually-impossible projects to produce a number of the greatest and most extraordinary mechanical and structural feats; their ingenuity has played a focal part within the dynamic face of technological advancement. Two thousand years ago the Colosseum of Rome that was built, the fact that it had endured the test of time is a credit to the talent and depth of design behind it.
The Aeronautical and Aerospace industries are currently the fastest progressing and the most cutting-edge fields of engineering.
This is very interesting seeing high tech machines being manufactured and created to accomplish extraordinary achievements. It’s fascinating that among a given flexibility of the wing brings a finer management of lift-to-drag ratio to cater for the various demands throughout a flight comprised of warmer temperatures, higher altitudes or rapid wind speeds. I have gained the basic knowledge of how this works through my Extended Project Qualification and reading through the aeronautical MOOC course available online.
I want to understand and learn some more about the propulsion, aerodynamic and the structural aspects of an aircraft. This is the industry that I want to be part of, not only for job security but for the craft of designing as I want to challenge what the society’s ideas are regarding the world's limits and discover new peaks for future engineers. This philosophy alone motivates me and is one of the main reasons I set out to seek Aeronautical and Aerospace engineering. (The possibility of working inside this ever-evolving industries excites me and I’m hoping your university gives me a chance to accomplish this) I have a competitive personality and like to be challenged.
I discovered this by playing chess in my spare time. The beauty of chess is the ability to use logic and strategy to trump the opponent. In three moves there are nine million different moves a player can make that is the elegance of chess. Furthermore, through my experience in chess, I have gained the skills to allow me to proactively solve problems and think critically. I believe these skills are fundamentally important to this industry.
The combination of my A-level subjects has been specifically chosen to advance my knowledge and prepare me for the Aeronautical and Aerospace engineering course. My appeal has been reinforced by an insatiable curiosity within the laws of motion and mechanics, as you can apply mathematical calculations and scientific theory in day-to-day situations.
I always strive to have an impact and make a difference on the world. My passion for engineering stems from my autodidactic and inquisitive side which has fueled many of my interests. I particularly enjoy playing the guitar and learning Japanese as my third language. I like the challenge that I face and I see an opportunity to learn something new as this appeals to the intrepid side of my character.
I am determined and self-motivated individual and I anticipate the academic and social challenges of the university. I strongly believe that engineering is in the heart and brain of the developing world. This university will also give me rare chance to be surrounded by a variety of people who come from different cultures and who share the same ambitions and interest as me.
