Studies illustrated that individuals had demonstrated a decrease in interest of interacting with other individuals both in similar age groups and with people that are in other age groups. The world has morphed into a society that is complacent sitting behind the computer screens, social media vital component of this complacency. Other studies have manifested that relationships that form completely online are becoming increasingly prevalent between millennial. For instance, 'in a study done in 2002, 1,501 youths were surveyed about their relationships that they had made online. Two percent of these teens admitted to having a romantic relationship with someone, purely online that they had never met in person' .

This aspect conveys the crucial point about the influences of social media and manifests the truth about the relationships that the younger generations in our world are forming with one another. The amount of personal interactions is not the only thing that has been negatively impacted by the advancement of the internet, the quality of these decreasing interactions is suffering as well. Individuals lack the presence of intimate conversations and personal interactions with each other. Instead, they choose to spend their time surfing the internet to escape the stress or nervousness of initiating 'offline' relationship with another person may offer.

Social media is a driving force behind these alterations in the lives of average millennial. It directly influences not only their lack of enthusiasm when it comes to initiating real-life communications, but also affects the quality of the interactions once the smartphones are not utilized, and personal communication is expected. Scholar Susan Tardanico asserts an appealing that people need a 'new golf course' (Tardanico, 2). Tardanico stipulates by that phrase that individuals need a new place in business in order to conduct real-life personal communications. In the past business could be discussed on a golf course, involving personal communications that would stimulate a strong relationship between companions of the particular deal. However, in the modern age of technologies and internet access, that notion has become significantly less practical in comparison to an online medium. Tardanico argues that 'these new sources of online social media have begun to ruin these business relationships as well. People need to focus on getting into more personal relationships, which will lead to more trusting, and open connections in the future'.

Not only has the influx of social media been affecting the quality of interactions, but it has also drastically altered the number of relationships that people possess in person as well. The traced trend with people having a lack of interest in communicating with one another while in person is the result of advanced ways of communications offered by the social networks through the internet. This state we are living now produces binary opposites of internet playing a role of God with whole encompassing power, and men a generation of individuals following that God. Mediation and the bridge between these two binaries, manifested in the interactions outside of the internet and social networks, that is considered being an abnormal way of interacting with people in our millennial era.

The way to help to resolve this issue is to completely abandon the internet and gadgets that subsidize it with power. It is crucial to note that such a notion would be unrealistic in its realization due to the fact that the modern world is dependent on the internet, and will struggle to productively function without the use of it. The most recent generation will contain fifty percent of the future workforce, from which a staggering majority will favor dealing with certain matters in the workplace through instant messaging or email services, instead of in person. This aspect will convey serious issues, as the world will lose its sense of interacting with people face to face. It has been proven that an enormous percent of interaction output by individual encompasses nonverbal style of communication.

This means that without particular cues that people use to decipher the messages that are received in person, individuals will not be able to correctly understand what the other person is genuinely trying to say to them. Not only such outcome of abuse of the internet will lead to issues with work relationships, but it will also convey issues within our own families, and friends. Tracing the way internet exponentially increased its influence on the lives of people, and how dependent society became with the utilization of electronic gadgets, such as smartphones. Individuals will be utterly dependent on the interaction online through texts, emails, and other distinct sources offered by social networks, hence this will lead to them abandoning the primary source of healthy life that possesses a necessity to involve personal face to face interactions with individuals around.
