When I was younger, I loved to live in community, meeting new people and asking them a lot of questions what I wanted to know. As I was born and brought up from a middle-income family with limited financial and educational background, I knew the importance of having connection with people and having social networking. However, I always try to have better connection with people, especially with my true friends, well-experienced people and educative people. because they guide me to lead my life in the right way.
When I had to attend college, it could broaden my networking by communicating some of my friends who have the same passion and interests participating in round table English discussion, sport activities and doing volunteer work together.
I came to know their strengths, knowledge. For example, some of my friends have the abilities and skills that I do not possess such as having talent in art and public speaking. They gave me inspiration to learn new skills that are necessary for my life.
When I reached third year at College, I was selected to participate a youth cultural exchange program namely JENEYSYS 2.0 in Japan. During program, I got a chance to meet with youths from Japan and Laos exchanging different cultures and building cultural and educational relationship among us. This program helped me expand my network and it made me connect to the external world as a bridge. The experience I got from this program brought me benefits after graduation when I applied for a job at Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
At Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, I have to communicate with people from all strata of life: both public and private, different stakeholders and international organizations in tourism sector.
While working at the ministry, I have broader networking in concern with my work. Some of the people I connected are well-educated and intellectual persons sharing their working experience and hanging over their knowledge to me. Furthermore, they are ready to help me giving advice and motivation whenever I face difficulties in my work. I came to know that networking has been focal to achieve tasks at work.
Another networking I built was my official trip to Republic of Korea as a staff officer last year to attend the training with the name of " 2018 Intensive
-2-
Training Program on Working Level Tourism Leaders". Under the arrangement of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Tourism Organization, I attended this training with officials from Peru, Mongolia and Srilanka giving me a chance to learn the tourism planning and development of each country by making presentation and discussion. In addition, as we all were introduced to relevant tourism stakeholders in South Korea while doing site visit and technical tour, I can connect a strong and broad network that is useful to apply in my work and to develop my professional career. For those facts mentioned above, networking supports me to achieve my career.
