One key to maximizing your potential is through continuous personal development. Some of the techniques one can use for personal development/improvement are:
Speak positive words to your life
Joel Osteen says “Words are like seeds. When you speak something out, you give life to what you’re saying. If you continue to say it, eventually that can become a reality. Whether you realize it or not, you are prophesying your future. You can’t talk negatively and expect to live a positive life.
You can’t talk defeat and expect to have victory. You can’t talk lack, not enough, can’t afford it, never get ahead; and expect to have an abundance.”
Joel Osteen goes on to advise “If you have a poor mouth, you’re going to have a poor life. If you don’t like what you’re seeing, start planting different seeds. Instead of saying, “I’ll never get well, this sickness has been in my family for three generations.
” No, plant the right seeds. “God is restoring health unto me.” “This sickness didn’t come to stay,” I am getting better and better every day.”
Many people do not realize that when they are using negative words in their lives; they are cursing their future. Every day, you will hear the voice of defeat and voice of victory. Your responsibility is to choose what you want to listen and the words you will speak to your life. You do not have to talk about the mountain, but you can talk to the mountain.
Start declaring today the victory words “no weapon formed against me will ever prosper.”
Cultivate a winning spirit of positivity and joy in every area of your life. Become a true adventurer, seeing life’s little obstacles as challenges that will allow you to become wiser and to grow. Learn to love adversity and to thrive in it-be like an eagle that uses storms to rise up to the clouds.
Surround yourself with positive people
“You become like the five people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.”
Surround yourself with positive thinkers who despite all your weaknesses see greatness. They will positively dare you to be different and to have a fearless winning attitude.
Befriend people who are better than you and who can be your benchmark partners. They will motivate you to improve and be a better person-show me your friends, and I will know who you are!
Joel Osteen adds “You need to associate with people that inspire you, people that challenge you to rise higher, people that make you better. Don’t waste your valuable time with people that are not adding to your growth. Your destiny is too important.”
You must choose people who have the qualities you want to emulate. They must be in a position lift you to a higher level and bringing out the best of you. Your life will only be better when you surround yourself with good intelligent, kind-hearted positive, and loving people. Wilfred Peterson advises “Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground.”
Use your time well
You get to decide where your time goes. You can either spend it moving forward, or you can spend it putting out fires. You decide and if you don’t others will decide for you.” Tony Morgan
Time management is how you choose to plan, prioritize, and spend the hours you have. We can only unlock our potential if we wisely use our time. We all have twenty-four hour days, but many people always wish they can have more. We spend a lot of time being idle or in activities that do not add value to our lives.
Unfortunately, the clock is ticking; the hours are going by and our days in this are fast disappearing- time is too short and when time lost is.it is never regained. Charles Darwin wisely adds “A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.”
In our youth years, we think the time is abundant, and we foolishly waste this precious commodity, but in our old age, we look back to find there is nothing to show for the years passed. Kevin Ngo in his profound wisdom once said: “If you don’t make time to work on creating the life you want, you are eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don’t want.” Jean de La Bruyère adds “Those who make the worst use of their time are the first to complain of its brevity.”
The Bible in Ecclesiastes 3 advises us that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens, and we must use the God-given time wisely. With a few minor adjustments on how you utilize this resource called time, you can wisely manage it. Proper time management is something that can forever change your life for the better and can help y to unleash your potential.
You must decide on what it is you want to accomplish in life then take stock of those activities that are important to your daily life. Focus on allotting time for these things. Anything that wastes time should be eliminated from our life.
Developing skills on how to manage time is essential and has positive effects on your life. Improvement of time management skills will help you know yourself better and will make you organized and disciplined. Time management is all about making the right choices and choices have consequences-misuse time now and expect to regret later in life. Planning is very critical in time management.Alexis Carrel Says “The most efficient way to live reasonably is every morning to make a plan of one’s day and every night to examine the results obtained.”
