Anne Frank is one of the most famous victims of the Holocaust. She was born in Germany in 1929 and moved with her family to the Netherlands in 1933 to escape the Nazis. In 1942, they went into hiding in an attic in Amsterdam to avoid being sent to a concentration camp. Anne kept a diary during their time in hiding, which was later published as The Diary of a Young Girl. She and her family were discovered by the Gestapo in 1944 and sent to Auschwitz, where Anne died of typhus in 1945.
