Art provides people with a vocabulary about things they can't articulate. Art in any form can give people emotions that can lift their spirit and make them more driven than ever, and this why art is important in our daily lives. It is usual human nature to admire the beauty around people, such as when there is a painting or read a beautiful poem or listen to soothing music. Art is everywhere around people in many forms and holds a significant value in our lives.
Although it is difficult to describe art in literal terms, broadly it is understood to be a form to express feelings, media for communication, development of children.
First, history shows that art has been used as a major tool for communication. People tend to communicate with words, both written and verbal. But sometimes, conveying ideas is done in other ways. You've heard the old saying ''a picture's worth a thousand words''.That's because art can get ideas across using a different kind of vocabulary.
Some people respond more to visual images than words. Scholars and scientists have done many studies on how we learn, and they know that different parts of the brain process what the eye sees in many ways. It makes sense that people pursue different means of communication, especially when words aren't effective. Art translates ideas into symbols. According to Rouault (1958)'For me, painting is a way to forget life. It is a cry in the night, a strangled laugh'.
Art can express political ideas, reinforce religion, and convey deeply personal thoughts. there are many different ways to communicate through symbols and imagination. O'keefe (n.d.) stated that he found that he couldn't say things with colors and shapes that he couldn't say any other way... things he had no word for. Art Can Convey Ideas. From ancient times, people have used images to communicate. ... Art can promote specific political viewpoints. Artists have made drawings, paintings, sculptures, and many other art objects to challenge assumptions, support causes, and explore deep personal questions. Students willing to do this will in turn have stronger skills to focus and be dedicated in other subjects. The mixture of all these abilities gained from participation in art programs leads to higher test scores and overall better performance in school, this why art should not be removed from the school curriculum.
Children today learn a lot through visuals. At an early age, kids are exposed to computers, tablets, and smartphones and they acquire using the touchscreen faster than they start speaking. That is why art is important for a child’s development. It teaches children how to interpret, criticize and use the visual information that they perceive, and to form some of their own attitudes and feelings towards certain phenomena in life. This is also art, one doesn't have to be a painter to be an artist, how people express themselves, uses imagination and creative energy to embellish and decorate the surrounding. This great reason and an excellent tool for parents to connect and re-connect with their kids. Parents do well for their family whether they decide to encourage their children to perform certain arts and crafts activities at home, and simply join them, or approach art by showing certain pieces already created by famous or less famous artists. According to Colchico (n.d.) states that art develops mental skills that facilitate children in learning tough subjects. More images will be poured on minds once the true colors of art are experienced and influenced on children of ideas and creativity. these ideas are translated into the real world. This can teach them to appreciate and value history, as well as other people’s and nation's customs and lifestyles. Finally, it will boost their self-esteem as they will learn what it means to be an individual, as well as what it means to belong to a certain community. Creating art expands a child's ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does art help to develop the right side of the brain, but it also cultivates important skills that benefit a child's development.
It is agreeable that we are surrounded by art and also rely on it in our daily routine. When we enter someone's home, it is difficult to stop ourselves to appreciate the way the living room is decorated. people would like to find rhythm and harmony in the way furniture is placed, photography along the wall, paintings above the sofa. According to Sigmund,(n.d., pg 67)'Artists express their feelings and what is in their minds through objects. Further, objects may also be used to express artist’s spirit or religion or orientation they have on various issues existing in their environment'. Symbolists may also use a piece of art or a painting to express their emotions or feelings at a particular time. Art an expression of what one has seen, experienced, tasted, and felt. It is important to note that artists do not exist in a vacuum. They live in spaces in the world where lives are shaped by what people go through. These experiences allocate deep meanings to a piece a carving, a sculpture, or a painting.
Some artists and researchers claim that there are negative impacts of art on a child’s developing mind. According to one research study,' Art is so powerful to a harmful extent, that we should enjoy it without reaching such extent; otherwise, we can enjoy other safer and deeper pleasures that life is full of.'(Kirkorian, Waltella, & Anderson, 2008, p. 8). People use arts sometimes as a language when we voluntarily choose to be vague or indirect. But even more, words are more efficient, words can be equally obscure, provocative, and confusing, when we want them to be, doing a better job than sounds and images. For example, there is nothing worse than being stuck with bad teachers, especially if you are looking to get a quality art education. Every art school seems to have at least one or two who make the entire art school experience an unpleasant one. Some go into teaching having a negative outlook against upcoming artists. Because they fail to be accepted in the art world, they sometimes push this negativity onto students. On other hand, Art is not easy to be admired by everyone, and it requires basic knowledge of painting. First, beginners need to tell the differences between 100% handmade painting and print painting. Second, they need to know whether it is a real painting by the original artist. For example, if someone tries to sell you a “real” Café Terrace at Night and tells you that it is the original because it has van Gogh’s signature, you should know that the real one was not signed(Monica,2018, page 2).In addition, It can’t last forever. Even original paintings in a museum, as time pass by, will be a bit beige and ancient. But under a common environment, the color of oil paintings can be maintained for several decades, unless the paintings are under extremely low or high temperature. With all this considered, art should not be dismissed from schools.
There are indeed negative impacts of art on a child's development, but arts not only enrich our lives, communities, and culture, they are also an essential component of a child’s education. A strong arts education encourages the development of certain skills which children need to be successful. More and more studies have found that there is compelling proof to link student learning in the arts to an extensive range of academic and social advantages.
In a conclusion, art should be taught to children more than adults since it teaches students how to interpret, criticize, and use visual information, and how to make choices based on it. This impact is being destroyed with time through technology in our modern society by video games and youtube... importance of arts in our lives is very similar to entertainment. art education can be encouraged at schools for children as it provides a platform for the young ones to express and explore imagination.
