According to research by Nationwide, "40% of college students’" spends on their choice — it means that they spend a lot on gadgets, clothing, entertainment, etc. They spend on their want higher than spending for their board exam and dormitory and that only cause them 26% percent of their spending. While 19% percent is allowed to their tuition fees and miscellaneous fees. And the remaining 12% is their emergency money.
Some college students waste their money on coffee. They spend hours in coffee shops like Starbucks, if you drink coffee everyday even if you're only buying the tall which is the regular.
In a month you're spending approximately $60 on coffee.
Rather than buying coffee everyday. It will save you if you buy your own coffeemaker and you're the one who's gonna brew it. It will save you a lot of money. It also advised to just cook instead of eating in restaurants, it is much healthier if you make your own food rather than buying. The researchers found out that more or less $11 billion were spend in foods and beverages a year.
And around $5.5 billion to those who drinks alcoholic drinks.
If you want to restrict "spending habits" the best way is to not use your "credit card" or use it for emergencies only. Some students think that credit cards are use to have "free stuff". Because some credit cards are owned by their parents' or they think that it's not a big deal, they don't have to pay it now.
Students also obliged to buy their textbooks, and this textbooks are cozy too.
Most of the textbooks are new, but if there's old books try to look for the old students who has that book and try to rent it or buy. This will help you to save more money. The books per semester are changing so it is waste of money if you buy new books.
And lastly, most students wants to have fun after a what they call "hell week". They often buy "Movie tickets", "concert tickets", "football tickets", "even cable TV all are costly expenses". Instead of buying concert tickets and movie tickets if your school offers events such as a band performance, concert and some stage play that you can watch for free. Grab it, it also helps you not to spend money.
College students spend money for "transportation", house rent and also if they want to decorate it, and "school supplies". Some students have a special discounts on malls, by presenting their school ID.
