Having a well balanced diet is important in leading a healthy and long life. Diet plays a major role on your health and your everyday routines. Without a good diet it can cause your body to shut down and be the root to future health problems. Problems such as being overweight or obese. Being obese is thought to be seen as an eating disorder to many people, seen as the people with this disease are not be able to handle them selfs or what they consume.

Although this can be correct, obesity is not an eating disorder but a chronic disease.

Obesity is the condition of being grossly fat or overweight. It comes from eating too much and exercising too little.

Today it is estimated that 160 million americans are either obese or overweight. Three quarters of them being men and over 60% being females. With such high numbers of adults with this disease it has greatly affected today's generation. In that 160 million, 30% consists of boys and girls under the age of 20.

Being a little overweight or eating a little too much may not seem like a big problem but once you noticed that you've gained few pounds it can be seen as symptoms of obesity and can significantly affect your daily life.

Some symptoms of obesity can consist of being out of breath constantly, increased sweating, snoring loudly, feeling very tired on a day to day basis, having a low self of steam, and the inability to cope with sudden physical activity.

Obesity can also have certain signs that can not be seen physically or right away such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol which can lead to worse health conditions.

Some risk factors that can be noticed and altered straightaway to avoid this chronic disease compose of lack of physical activity, unhealthy eating behaviors, not enough sleep and high amounts of stress. To stay away from these risk factors people can begin by increasing their physical activity, eating healthy with correct portions, getting the right amount of sleep, and control their stress levels.

Although it can take some time and dedication, overcoming this obstacle is possible. The main goal when recovering is to reach and stay at a healthy and acceptable weight. Everyone goes through this process differently. Some people turn to health professionals and others decide to recover on their own. It all just depends on the person and on how badly they want to get better. Whether they do it on their own or with the help of others they all go through similar steps. Steps that consist of dietary changes to reduce calorie intake and practice healthier eating habits, exercise and physical activities, and behavior changes in order to get into the mindset of wanting to get better and clear out any negative energy that could of been the source of the problem.
