Throughout your day, you are faced with many choices of what to eat. Many people may think that meat is unhealthy or too high in fat. In reality, meat is healthy, not cruel to animals, and extremely convenient. Meat can provide healthy aspects of a protein diet. Meat contributes proteins, minerals, vitamins, and fats. Though some components of meat, such as saturated fats, can bring some negative health consequences it can also bring healthy fats. Take for example cheese and fish, both of these contribute nutritious making it a good fat.
“By using leaner meats, such as turkey jerky or chicken, you can reduce the fats in meats by 33-50%,” states Chef Rebecca.
These nutrients are important for their beneficial effects on your well being. Meat is rich in iron, zinc, and selenium which means that it contains high protein. According to some anthropologist throughout history, meat has been consumed by humans which led to the factors of the evolution of a larger brain.
Red meat supplies vitamin B12.
Vitamin B12 helps make DNA and keeps nerve and red blood cells healthy.
It also helps build bone and muscle structure. One can see from the examples above that meat is truly a healthy aspect of our daily meals. Though killing an animal for its meat is arguably cruel, there are many sustainable farms that take care of their animals in a humane way. The Humane Farm Animal Care is a non-profit certification organization. It dedicates its time to improve the lives of farm animals in food production from birth through slaughter.
Having organizations like this sincerely shows how we are increasing the quality of life for animals.
According to Jessica Marmor Shaw, the number of humane raised products has great improved meeting that command. Perdue, the fourth largest domestic fowl producer in the U.S., announced an overhaul of its animal welfare practices. Science experts and veterinarians help raise awareness from the traditional slaughter house and show great passion and dedication into how these terrible places should be condemned. It seems to me that these companies are taking great measures to prevent other farms from slaughtering innocent animals. By setting this example, more farms have started implementing these ideas into an already running company.
Perhaps these companies are getting pressure to implement these procedures from organizations such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and individuals who are are against animal cruelty. This, of course, will also will help their public image and how they are seen by outsiders which helps these businesses remain profitable. Therefore, there are many farms that take care of their animals humanely. Fundamentally, we grow up eating what is served on our plates. Meat is a common food that can be made into a slew of different recipes. There are pros and cons of meat consumption from ethics, to human wellness, to nutritional benefits. Vegans and vegetarians may have valid arguments not to consume meat or meat products. However, eating meat has historically been a part of human behavior and now, more than ever. It is readily available in supermarkets for society to enjoy and nourish their bodies. You can find a diverse amount of meats or meat products at your local grocery store or market.
There is also many magazines and articles you can find to make healthy, yet appetizing meals. Trying vegetarians options may be a bit harder to find. Not only that but purchasing organic, fresh green, and herbs can be more expensive than the usual American course of meat. By eating things as simple and delicious as chicken, pulled pork, and burgers you are really showing how you can eat well but economically. Ultimately, meat is extremely convenient to get at your local shop. I genuinely believe that meat is a spectacular protein that can get you through your long, hectic day. Yes, there are some pros and cons about eating meat or meat products, but being one of the 75% of U.S. citizens who eat meat can tell you that meat is certainly healthy, not cruel to animals, and extremely convenient. I personally enjoy many meat dishes and I know that others do as well. After all, it is a part of our everyday lives. We are who we are today as human beings directly because our ancestors consumed meat. In conclusion, meat provides us with our everyday, nutritional needs.
