Life Enhancement by Technology

As technology advances, it is easier for people to advertise their products. A positive way technology is used to advertise is allowing us to buy products around the globe. One website that technology provided us with is Amazon. People use Amazon to buy almost anything you need nowadays. This makes buying and selling products way faster, as you can use Amazon at home, school, work, and even in the restroom. Almost everyone has a phone nowadays, which makes Amazon more accessible.

Thanks to Amazon, buying and selling products are easier than ever.

Technology can also be used to improve a firm's ability to serve its customers. With social media, companies can attract customers with ease. Not only can social media be used to attract customers, but also gain long-term customers. If companies use the same platform, like Instagram, to advertise their products, then the same customers would keep in touch. This can build long-term relationships with customers, resulting in them coming back.

In addition, we also have the power to advertise products efficiently.

Social media plays a big part in this because with Facebook or Instagram, you can advertise on your page. You can actually make a whole page dedicated to your products. Just like how people make Instagram accounts for their pets, you can make an Instagram account for your product you are trying to sell. You can also ask your friends or family to help advertise your product by sharing your page with others.

Although technology has given a positive impact through buying and selling products, their is also a negative impact.

People also use social media to sell illegal products such as drugs. There is a thing called the black market that anyone can access anywhere as long as they have internet and a laptop or a smartphone. This is known as the dark web, where you can also sell and buy products but with bitcoin. Products you can buy on this dark web range from drugs to human body parts. This is the negative side of the internet.

Many stories have been told about the dark web. People have found fake prepaid cards that have $2000 in it when you can buy it for $200. Others have found weapons such as pistols, shotguns or assault rifles. The crazy thing about this is it is all untraceable because of the currency, bitcoin. Bitcoin is untraceable, which means criminals can buy these products easily without getting caught (Tapscott, 2016). Not only are there products you can buy on the dark web but there are also disturbing things you can find. For example, child pornography has also been found in the dark web. You can think of the dark web as Google but for criminals.

Crazy and creepy stuff have been found on this dark side of the internet. People watch child pornography, animals being tortured, humans being killed, and many other disturbing things. This kind of relates to the "Yin Yang" symbol in which there has to be balance. With the internet, there are the good aspects but also the bad aspects. They balance each other out and ultimately it is up to the person which side of the internet they want to surf. Going on the dark web is legal as long as you don't buy any products. Once you buy any product on the dark web, you are breaking the law. However, using a secure VPN can make your IP address untraceable, making it easier to not get caught.

Another way technology has taken a dark turn is selling illegal products through social media. Using any social media platform, you can advertise drugs anywhere. Without using the dark web, you can actually use legal platforms to sell illegal products. However, this is more-risky as you can get caught easier. Social media is supposed to be used to advertise products or connect with friends and family. People exploit this and instead of creating a page for selling common goods, they use it to sell drugs.

Going back to the "Yin Yang" symbol, the internet is a good example. There is the bad energy, Yin, and there is the good energy, Yang. There is no light without darkness, and there is no good without bad. Criminals actually can make a lot of money through the dark web. They can make way more than the average person that went to college with a degree. For example, there was a person who exploited the dark web to scam people with fake credit cards. In an interview, the person told the audience that he makes thousands of dollars a day and does what he does because he has to feed his son. With a bad background, that criminal cannot get a regular job, so he decided to make money through the dark web. He also makes more than the average person.

Furthermore, there are also people who use Facebook to sell clothes, legally. This would be the Yang in this situation while the criminal using the dark web to scam people would be the Yin. Teens have a chance to make some quick money as well by selling clothes or old products they don't use anymore on Facebook. There are Facebook pages and groups dedicated to selling clothes. All you have to do is join the group and start posting pictures of clothes you don't wear anymore with your desired price. There are numerous groups and pages you can find where you can buy/sell anything. If you want to buy clothes, there is a page for that. If you want to buy video games, there is a page for that. If you want to buy computer parts, there is also a page for that. To sum it all up, you can use Facebook to buy or sell about anything you desire.

Of course people don't just use Facebook for advertising, because there are so many other social media platforms out there. Snapchat is another social media platform where you can share pictures or videos with others. Many people use Snapchat to connect with their family and friends but people also use Snapchat to buy and sell products. Unlike Facebook, Snapchat does

not use pages or groups. Instead, Snapchat only consists of accounts that you can add to view their story and chat with them.

There are Snapchat accounts that you can add to see their products. People post pictures or videos of whatever they are selling on their story. This way, anyone who has that account added can view that story. So if you have a lot of friends added, you basically have a lot of potential customers. You just take a picture of what you want to sell, put a caption with a price, put that picture on your story, and then wait until someone is interested. How you actually meet with your customer is preference. If you go to school with them, you could trade during school or afterschool. If you don't, then you could tell them to meet up at a place and then trade (Srinivasan, 2018). .

Of course, there are people who use Snapchat to sell drugs as well. It's basically the same process, but instead of posting a picture of clothes, they post pictures of their drugs. This is another example of Yin and Yang. No matter what, people will always find a way to use technology for illegal purposes. This is because of how easy it is to not get caught. If someone were to have a bad background and couldn't find a real job, they use technology to get money instead. Even though they make a lot of money, there is still a slim chance of getting caught. This is the sacrifice people make when they do use technology to sell drugs. Back then, when technology did not exist, buying and selling products meant going to the store physically. Now, anyone can buy anything anywhere.

Technology has revolutionized over the years, making people's lives easier, faster and better. When it comes to communication, modern technology has made an enormous impact that cannot be ignored. The development of Technology has really influenced our lives

positively and negatively. These inventions are as a result of man's curiosity and problem-solving techniques. Globally, more than two million smartphones are sold on a daily basis as the rate at which information is being shared on social media platforms remains phenomenal (Srinivasan, 2018). Digital technology brought the use of social media which revolutionized media and communication networks to a whole new level. Flashing back, before mobile technology, one had to literally search through the dictionary to understand the meaning of anything. Today thanks to search engines like Google and Bing, well who literally needs the library or newspapers when you can simply Google.

Moving forward, the future of technology is more interesting than what it is currently. Probably we will be talking less of importing or even using vehicles, instead of employing staff robotics will be implemented to do twice or thrice the amount of work a normal man can do and instead of credit cards, microchips will be the currency for buying and selling items. Away from this, technology has changed the world in various ways.

Technology has changed how we communicate. Ten twenty decades ago, you had to write a letter to communicate to anyone and it would take days, even weeks to get delivered. In fact, you personally had to trace the letter to see whether it was even delivered to the right person in the first place. Today, this phenomenon no longer exists, with social media, all you need to communicate today is to send a text message or call. You would be crowned king of stone age if you have not heard of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Skype. No matter your location, the message can be delivered at the same rate and speed that it is sent (Murthy, 2018).

Technology has changed money transfer and how we pay bills. Flashing back, the only way one would transfer or withdraw money was by personally entering a bank. Today, technology has completely reversed this phenomenon. Banks are making it possible for individuals to withdraw or transfer money online (Palm, 2019). Take Paypal for example, which has made it possible for people to send and receive money from any location using the internet. Thanks to technology, paying bills has been simplified. Long are the days where you would carry cash as you wait in long quest in order to pay for electricity bills or for shopping. Using your cell phone and a banking app, you can make all your bill payments online with ease.

Technology has changed the media industry. In the past, there were less televisions and mobile phones like it is the case today. In fact, they were countable. Today you can pause, rewind, live stream anything you missed on your television. There is no limitation in the digital space. Different programs can be watched on different screens using the same TV platform. Technology has completely revolutionized what a television set can offer.

Technology has similarly changed the dating arena and relationships in general. In the past, getting to know someone was face to face, everything starting on the basis of common attributes, to friendship, dating, courtship then marriage. Today everything is online especially with the proliferation of online dating sites. This is where you find a match and immediately start to communicate without getting to meet the person. People's profiles are readily available online and any other valuable information about the person you are interested in (Sanders, 2018). Dating platforms has millions of registered users, helping people connect with their perfect match. However, this has had its downside with cyberbullying, cyberstalking, hacking, hate speech, pornography and online sexual harassment on the rise.

Technology has changed people's lifestyle positively and negatively. With the invention of 'selfies', people now live a life of appearance and deceit. We have more of a busy lifestyle of posting, commenting, shopping online than being productive building the economy. At the same time, lifestyle habits have similarly changed with this generation. Today, it is easy to tame animals then teenagers on social media. Teenage addiction to the internet is on another level, a problem parents find hard to solve. They read less books but facebook more, exercise less while they buy more fresh fries online. This has created a less productive and unhealthy population with obesity being on the rise among teens (Ruthmann & Dillon, 2018).

Technology has changed health positively and negatively as well. Technology has increased more health care technologies than in the past (Charness, 2019). This does not mean that it has increased the quality of life. The reason behind such inventions has been due to overuse of the same technology. In the past, people had better physical stamina than today and lived longer without technology. Today, with more advanced technology, the average human lifespan has reduced. Technology is busy selling air purifiers and mineral water than encouraging people to plant more trees and preserve natural resources.

Technology has improved storage by introducing cloud computing technology (Launiainen, 2018). Currently, with cloud data you don't necessarily have to store your business and personal data on your DVD or hard drive , simply upload it to a cloud and access it anywhere and anytime. Examples are such as google drive. It is simple to use since, you do not require to install it on your computer or server, it is already available in the cloud. Cloud computing has been invented to help you earn money effortlessly. Cloud computing helps small businesses in generating cash flow, maximizing profits, developing products and designs remotely. It is a business model that is widely being adopted, satisfies client needs and requires less IT infrastructure investment.

Technology has influenced human behavior immensely. Technology has changed our patience levels. Notice the way people react when Wi-Fi connection is low or when one delays to respond online (Duncombe & Reus-Smit, 2019). We are more fragile online, minding more of how many likes, comments and shares our posts get. Violence is stirred up on online platforms and develops rapidly than wildfires causing war, creating tribal and racial differences. Vices are being embraced, legality of non-issues that never existed before are being raised such as homosexual rights and privileges. We are raising a rebellious youth that cannot think beyond their cell phones to solve day to day issues. Technology has taken the role of parenting, teaching children adult materials readily available on the net, impacting behaviors not genetically inherited, but socially influenced that the society cannot control.

To wrap it up, technology has changed many aspects of our lives, and the world negatively and positively. This is not the end however, the revolutions that will surface in the future will by far outweigh what we are experiencing now. Technology has changed the way we see, think and live. It is therefore important to embrace the positive aspect of technology to enhance our lives while controlling its negative impacts as well.
