Leadership is the basically art of human skill. Leadership is the process of influencing a group of people to that they will strive willingly and enthusiastically toward the achievement of organization goal. Its helps to motivating and encouraging employee for achieving set of organizational objectives. An effective leadership in an organization gets positive result. Leadership is generally defined as simply as the art of influencing people so that they will strive willingly towards the achievement of group goals. This concept can be enlarging to include not only willingness to work but with zeal and confidence (according to Koontz).

Leadership as the act of motivating or causing group of people to perform certain task intended to achieve organizational set of objectives. It is the act of making things happens rather than letting things happen. Leadership is the visible of management functions its deals so much with people. It has variedly referred to directly, commanding, inspiring, initiating, guiding, motivating and activating. According to (Eze) he sees leadership as relationship as a relation concept involving both influences the agent and the person being influenced.

Leadership is therefore premised on, interpersonal relational; hence a leader must belong to a group. What this implies is the leadership thrives in an organization. According to (Adebakin and Gbadamosi) organization comprise of two or more people who exist on continuous basis with the intention of accomplishing set goal.
Organization means group of different individual that accomplished the set of goal. Without leadership any organization can't get effective goal at right time.

Every organization consists of three major elements with must interrelate effectively its objectives and goals of leadership to be achieved. They are the time people, management and task within an organization. Leadership is the management function that is concerned with continuous search of the best way to influence subordination to accomplish goal and objective within the continuous process of coordinating, collaborating human resources, organization resources, technology. It involves the sum total of behavior of an executive in his direct relation with subordinates.

Management as the main body of the leadership determines policies, rules and procedures guiding relationship and activities in an organization. Where two or more people interact, the environment for the formation of a group is created by leader when they need in organization. When individual in the group coexist and associate for common purpose and when the group persists for a sufficient period of time organization develops. The role of a leader in the group of people in organization is to provide direction, coordinate the activities of the individual member constituting the group and to ensure consistence. The image of the leader and the quality of leadership is reflected of the subordinate in the performance of their task. Thus, the leader in the use of his organizing power decides the pattern of work behavior, task operating and ethnic of subordinates.

Importance Leadership in Organizational success

Every organization believes now days that effective leadership is one of the most important contributors to the overall organizational performance and development. Perfect leaders are those who have skills and knowledge gained from experience that allows them to manage effectively and efficiently the tasks of daily life. Effective leadership is always required to bring effective development. Leadership stimulates the people a higher level of performance through their strong human relation. It helps to maximize the efficiency and to get organizational objectives. The effective leader have different skill like communicating to others, team building, motivating, creativity, visionary etc.

Leader is one person who can manage the resistance to change and implement successful changes when organization need to change if situation should brings. It is important factor for making organization success. It is process of influencing the people to perform assign task effectively, efficiently and competently. Effective leader in an organization is to meet the three challenges. The first challenge is vision. The second is set of goals that convert strategic vision and specific performance outcomes for each key area. Last is providing strategic direction is to develop a strategy that helps to determine the organizational goal.

The different types of leadership

The different types of leadership qualities are required getting successful. There are basically types of leadership style like transformational leadership refers to when leader transforms, or changes, his/her subordinates in three significant ways. These ways may lead to win the trust of subordinates for leaders. That can increase the output of their work and doing job activities which can help to achieve the organizational goals in better ways. Some main characteristics of transformational leaders are that they increase the employee's confidence and awareness so they can enhance their performance, and also make them able to understand their personal outgrowth and development (Burns 2003).

  • Transformational leaders were shown to have subordinates who report greater satisfaction and more often exert extra effort, and have higher performing work groups and receive higher rating of effectiveness and performance(Nurdan 2002).
  • Transactional leadership focuses on the exchanges between leader and followers which provide short term result. Transactional leadership focuses on technological changes and having technical skills but he gives little attention to people and not much focus on problem solving. The definition of transactional and transformational leadership styles builds on prior classifications such as relations oriented versus task oriented skill (Fielders 1967).
  • The skillful leaders have clear and straight vision about organizational success in future and successful need to have a clear picture of future goal. Without vision the successful changes are very difficult. Kotter claims that it is very important for the leaders to communicate the vision (Kotter, 1995).

The role of leader

The role of leader is also very important for developing and managing change in any organization by creating the suitable atmosphere environment within the organization to adopt change and get success. Organizational culture has play significant role in development of changes in any organization, and it is the leader who brings new strategies for developing or managing culture and innovate a new ideas. In the organization top management can make the strategies to interconnect people working in organization and organizational process.

The culture of organization may include different culture, norms, beliefs and values and may lead organization from conservative to innovative. These may be unwritten rules, disciplines, and external orientation, and the leadership role may be instructive, consultative or supportive to employee. The organization's ability to motivate individuals toward superior levels of performance is closely related to their reward systems (Appelbaum, 1998). According to the different authors the ideal organizational climate provides opportunities for independence and sense of responsibilities to people. And the leadership is one who is responsible to create the good working environment in an organization.

The role of a leader is prominent in managing organizational resources and change process. There are many internal and external forces which have a significant role and affect the organization overall scenario, while managing by leader. Leader has need to more responsible and careful when internal and external forces are changes. As we talked above that organizational culture is important in organizations and can affect the organizational change process and organization success. We profess that the role of the leader is limited in creating the organizational culture, in this, the nature of an organization, the geographical region in which an organization is located, the organizational employees and their nature of work are also important. Likewise changing nation in political situation, technological situations, Social condition, increasing competition, changing customer wants and demand, economy other external factor that can affect in the performance of organizational employee and change process which mostly affecting organizational success. If leader have significantly controlling and managing the organizational internal and external forces then get success of every organization with higher productivity.

Conclusion

Every organization needs effective leadership for organizational success. Leader is a person who has various skills to manage organization, motivate the employee, inspiring to people, visualize organizational future goal and adopt the change. Change can improve the performance of an organization which at the later and end may lead organizations towards a long term success and sustainability. While talking about organizations the leadership and its role are the most concerning issue in managing organizations and organizational change. It is accepted by scholars that organizational leadership has a central role in evolution and cultivating an organization. It helps the employee of an organization and working group to face the challenges and to work for the organization goal worthy way.

Organizational success means that leader is leading the organization all resources effectively and efficiently to accomplishing goal at right time. Leadership means nothing and he/ she may not get the target of successful organization change but it is important for leader to have clear vision. Vision is an ability and capability of leader to perceive future and future trends in a effective way. Vision of a leader can also prove helpful to motivate the teams and employees within an organization.
