The ozone layer is a thin layer of gas located in the Earth’s stratosphere, approximately 10-50 kilometers above ground level. It plays a vital role in protecting Earth from the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation by absorbing most of the UVB radiation. The ozone layer is mainly composed of ozone molecules, which are created by the interaction of oxygen molecules and UV radiation. Human activities, such as the use of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, have led to a depletion of the ozone layer over the past few decades, resulting in an increase in skin cancer and other health problems, as well as environmental effects.
