Father Tribute Speech

Categories: Fathers

Many call him rich but I call him dad. He is the man who has taught me to be the person I am today. My dad has been there for me every day since I was born, and what my family and I have put him through I probably would have gone crazy a long time ago. My dad is literally the only man in our house. It is my dad, my mom, my older sister Olivia, me, and my younger sister Aliza.

Even my dog is a girl, even my litter sister’s fish is a girl. I don’t know how he does it, I really don’t. But the thing is he deals with all of us girls every day and he still is one of the most kind hearted men I know. My dad is the nicest man not just to me but to everyone he knows. He always treats others the way he wants to be treated.

We live in a neighborhood and my dad- if he knows you or not- will always smile and wave when you drive by. He is always respectful to you no matter who you are or what you do. As I've grown older, I've been able to see a much different perspective of a man I've always known.

I can see much clearly now the hardships and the very many sacrifices he made for me and our family. He has shaped me into the person I am today. I don't believe we could have ever found a more dedicated father then mine.

He has taught me, through words and actions, the meaning of love, honesty, hard work and making sacrifices. We have been truly blessed to have such a wonderful father whom we can also call our friend. If one day I can be half the parent my dad is to me I will be satisfied. My dad has always stood behind us girls and always accepted us as the people we are. He has stuck with us through our many different interests, from dancing and boxing to softball and tennis. My dad no matter what sport we are doing at the time will always be right next to us every step of the way.

As I’ve grown my dad has lead me into my passion, golf. When I first started golfing the only reason I liked going golfing with my dad is because he let me drive the cart. My dad kept with me though, he is one of the best golfers I know, and he can drive the ball extremely far. But one time this summer my dad and I were golfing together and I drove my ball further than his. My first ball was still further than his on his second shot. I am a very competitive person and I will probably never do it again, so he will never live down that one. But on that day it was much more to me than just beating my dad at something, that day was the day I felt as though I had truly made my father proud of me. I don’t think that my dad knows how much I really do appreciate him and everything that he has done for me. My dad has been there for me every step of the way.

From teaching me the essentials like walking and talking to just the simple joys in life like riding a bike and driving a car. Every step of the way he was right there telling me how proud he was. To some those are just simple words but to me they mean so much more. The one thing I want in life is to make my parents proud and to never disappoint them. But what my dad doesn’t know is how proud I am of him. I’m proud of how he puts family first, always. I can always count on my Dad to be there at everything I do. I’m proud of his sense of humor, and how he lifts the spirits of those around him; how he can lift the spirits of our family when times are tough.

My dad did not have the easiest childhood, he lost his mother as a teenager and grew up with just a father but still today he is one of the happiest most joyful hearted men I know and for that I am proud. I’m proud to tell you that he took the time every night when I was a child to come upstairs tuck me in and kiss me goodnight, I don’t think he will ever know how much that truly meant to me. Dad, I’m proud of you for many reasons. You have accomplished all sorts of things in your life. And I have no doubt that you will have several more successes around the corner. You have done an incredible job of raising Olivia, Aliza, and I. Thank you for all that you have given me, thank you for all your love and support, but most of all, thank you for being such a wonderful father to me.

Rich, my dad, is one of the best dads in the world. He has and will always take care of me. My dad has the utmost respect for me and my decisions and that is why I have so much respect for him. My father would drop everything for me and my family. Every day I wake up and thank the lord for the gift I was given. I am so lucky to be blessed to have such an amazing person in my life. I couldn’t think of any other person I would want to write this to. I would not trade my father for anyone or anything. He is the man that has made me into the person I am today. Rich is my Dad, he's my mentor, my friend and most of all he is my hero.
