The response to these questions will assist in finding a suitable fundraiser with a successful outcome. While there are different approaches to take when raising money, fundraisers will also experience some difficulties along the way before reaching the organization’s goal.

The first most common road block is having difficulty asking others for money.

Asking for money can come off crazy and cause one to completely ignore what purpose their donation will serve. If a person were to listen they can gain beneficial information on the fundraiser, how much has already been raised and is left to raise. It also helps to make the fundraiser personalized, allowing residents to feel personally connected with the fundraiser. The goal is to operate towards assisting donors in seeing how their organization is appropriate in helping them accomplish their goals.

An example of asking for money is the Catholic Church and how they pass around a collection basket during mass.

There are tragedies and epidemics around the world that people donate in hopes of contributing to a solution. People lack the time and energy for assisting with situations, which is why people donate to charity for them to do the work. There are also other ways in receiving donations such valuable products, affordable prices and good services from nonprofit groups. There are different options from food to gift catalogs. The community will determine what products will be more appealing to the residents. Another caution to be aware of is poverty inside of a community and providing cheaper products to purchase.

The second common road block is, being afraid of making a mistake resulting in fundraising powerlessness. This can cause one to overthink and question if they asked for too much money or if they upset the person. It is crucial in engaging the donor in the goals of the organization before the fundraiser asks for any donations. An example of a big mistake would be not asking for money after educating the person on the organizations mission. Those involved in raising money should be organized and know what is expected of them. They need to know important information such as fundraiser dates, goals, and procedures that pertain to them.

The next road block that avoids effective fundraising is complexity. In the surrounding environment is competitiveness, causing fundraisers to brace themselves and at the same time attempt to think of alternatives ways to get more money. This can have a feeling of failure when entering and interacting with the higher person who is involved with the fundraiser. Pagoni describes the chaos in meetings as “menacing flies”. Within the competitive environment, organizations should use the reactive approach. The organization will need to focus on assembling their network, brand and position in the area with a reactive approach. Organizations like yours or with similar goals and capacities, are assembling their programmatic and location capacities to react to the competitively funded projects by donors. There are finite funds, and the expansion of organizations are all attempting to get the same money for their organization. To be successful, organizations need to be aware of accessing funds in a competitive bid procedure. To be competitive your fundraiser needs to have an aggressive edge that others surrounding with similar goals don’t have. Examples of competitive elements are strong processes, systems, and leaders. These are all useful in competing with other organizations in responding quickly to bid donors.

Lastly is ill formed acceptance, meaning no one is willing to support overhead. This then creates a structural situation and emerges in the engagement between the fundraisers and donors. Pagoni (2014) states, “that long range vision must be reflected through leadership, particularly the area of fundraising”. The goal is to create relationships between the donors and fundraisers. With patience, respect, regularity and honesty can lead both the donor and fundraiser with strategic and development objectives. When there are people who want to donate money to a good cause that connects to your mission, one will want the donor to think of their organization first. There are various donors, some with a large amount of money willing to donate to make a big difference in society.

CONCLUSION

While there are different approaches to take when raising money, fundraisers will also experience some difficulties along the way before reaching the organization’s goal. If one has unrealistic goals, it could result in dissatisfaction for the fundraisers and donors if the goals are not accomplished. It is crucial to center the attention on maximum of two programs and keep away of a burnout for all of those involved. Organizations can flourish with good leadership, organization and the cooperation between one another.
