Introduction A child and his mother are driving home from picking the son up from a school event in their local area. A drunken driver crosses the line, entering into the mother’s lane head on. Not only are there accidents with vehicles regarding alcohol consumption but it has been a proven fact that alcohol leads to other situations and deaths. Body I. II. Not only does alcohol cause motor vehicle related deaths, it also has effects on the body. A. Extended alcohol abuse can cause blood conditions including several forms of anemia and blood clotting abnormalities. 1. Prolonged alcohol use can also impair white blood cell function and thus makes the abuser more likely to become infected. B. Alcohol abuse differs from alcoholism in that it does not include an extremely strong craving for alcohol, loss of control, or physical dependence.

2. While alcohol abuse is basically different from alcoholism, it is important to note that many effects of alcohol abuse are also experienced by alcoholics. Conclusion Knowing all the facts about alcohol and its effects on the body, it is still legal to consume to this day. Why? Why are we allowing a substance that has such a high crime, death and health risk that is also easily purchased for all Americans over the age of 21? There has to be a stopping point in this matter. Think back about the family who lost their family members in a car accident and the Brad who thought he was just having simple fun but turned for the worst.
