Giving Back is beautiful. Even though not everyone does it, a lot of people do. In this helping the community essay, I'll describe why you will never truly experience the joy of giving back if you do not do it out of the goodness of your heart. Our wants are often other needs. There is a difference between sacrificing and being compelled. We tend not to realize just how much we have until it's gone.

“As human beings, we have an innate need to contribute to those around us.

Whether it comes in the form of something small like being there for a friend in need or something massive like contributing financially to a worthwhile cause, we realize the importance of giving.” All of our lives have a purpose, and it is not about what we do for ourselves, it's about what we do for others. How can some people be so content with everything they have and don’t want to share? It doesn’t come from what we get, but simply what we give.

I’ve never been one that hasn’t wanted to help others in any way that I can. So I wouldn’t understand a scenario in which others don’t help their community. You should give back to your community - it's your duty.

Giving Back to the Community Since Childhood

While I was growing up, my parents instilled how I should work and be thankful for anything I encounter and acquire.

If I wanted something I had to work for it, and they never let me forget that you can’t take anything from the earth during your time except your experience. So it has never really mattered to me what I had, but whom I can share it with. Some people fail to realize this, and I will do everything in my power to make it known. Some have had everything in life handed to them, the underprivileged have had to work twice as much just to have half of what others have.

A lot of people never know the right time to give back. The truth is that there is absolutely no time limit on when you can and cannot give back to your community. No matter how much or little you make, not every volunteer even requires giving money. If you truly want to help, give your time, not your money. Yes, money helps, but time does one better.

The Benefits of Giving Back

What do you think happens when you start giving back? You begin to inspire others around you. “The importance of giving to others shouldn’t be overlooked.” Just because you aren’t Bill Gates or Oprah doesn’t mean you can’t have just as much of an effect as they do. When others see you doing good, they wanna do the same, this creates “The Ripple Effect”, meaning, you do, and others follow. Not only will you be helping others, you’ll be helping yourself not only mentally, but spiritually. So sit back and prepare to reap the blessings coming your way.

No matter how sad, or tough you think your life is, someone is going through much worse. We tend to think our necessities are a right. Having water, food, clothing, and even shelter is NOT a right, but a privilege. Another misconception is the phrase “Giving Back.” Giving Back doesn’t mean “Oh I help them, what’s in it for me?” It doesn’t have its true effect on you unless it is done wholeheartedly.

Purpose as the Reason Why Giving Back to the Community Is Important

If we don’t take care of what we have, we have nothing to show for our time being here. We may not live forever but our planet does. After we leave, what happens? We can’t leave this place in shackles for future generations to come. We humans have to work together so our communities flourish beautifully with, and without us. “ I am giving back to my community because it substantiates my purpose on earth. Giving back not only creates feelings of gratitude, but also encourages a culture of giving, strengthens communities, and nations, alleviates poverty, helps share resources, and helps you grow as a person, it also makes you feel good. Our appreciation awakens when we give back to others who require our help. When we give back it not only helps our communities but neighboring ones as well. Giving Back in my opinion not only builds gratitude, but it builds character and morale.

Don’t sit on the sidelines, and watch others suffer, then pretend to care. You’re either helping or you’re not, period. People love the idea of giving back more than the action of it. You have to practice what you preach. You can’t suggest others should give back if you aren’t doing so yourself. “You don't get to stare at the race through your tinted windows and then expect to show up for the medals.” Meaning, you don’t get to reap the benefits of actions you didn’t contribute to.

My community has done so much for not only me but my peers. Giving Back to my community is the least I can do. I don’t like being selfish with my time. I enjoy giving back what was given to me by my community. Helping others should feel more like a hobby, rather than a chore.

Possible Ways to Give Back to the Community

What are some ways we can give back? Don’t forget, giving back is more than throwing money at a problem and having others find a solution. You have to help and shed some blood, tears, and sweat. Not literally but, giving your all to helping others. It is more of a spiritual gain than a physical, You could change someones’ life and you don’t even know. They have the least, and still give the most, So why can’t we do the same?

If you want a new perspective and meaning of life, try giving back, and see how it makes you feel. 55% of “youth” volunteer. 1⁄4 of Americans volunteer. Two out of Three Americans help their neighbor. Volunteers are almost twice as likely to donate to a charity than those that don’t volunteer. Individuals between the ages of 35 and 54 are the most likely to volunteer their time. Volunteerism has a value of over 184 billion dollars.

Now that we have included some numbers it gives more of an in-depth standpoint. Volunteering/Giving Back generates mass revenue. It is seen as just lending a hand but it brings back money not just to us but the people who need it. A lot of people don’t seem to grasp the concept of the process. As little as 20 minutes a day alone can generate up to 20 dollars. It is not about the cause, the significance is the effect.

Personally, this is something I have done my entire life. During Christmas time, my parents would always take us to get toys for kids who would not get the joy of waking up their parents to open presents. So my parents and I attempted to help fill these children's voids. By bringing clothes, shoes, and toys, brought out genuine happiness, not from just my family and me, but the children who got to experience waking up to the toys they could only dream of having.

There are so many ways In which I have stated why Giving back is such an amazing thing to partake in. It is beneficial in several ways. It cannot harm. It helps so much. Giving is the same as receiving, Either way, you feel euphoric.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Giving has done nothing but greatness. As I have previously stated Giving is something I’ve partaken in since I can remember. My parents have instilled it into me, and I plan on doing the same with my children when they become of age, It teaches genuine kindness from the heart. People or kids my age don’t see it now but those who give back now are the same ones that are contributing to the growth of the economy and helping provide a better society for future communities to come.

I give back because I have been given so much. Not everyone is as fortunate as most of us are, that is why I encourage everyone I can to help as much as they feel comfortable with, or physically can.
