Medical, scientific or cosmetic testing is something that no living thing should endure. Using inhumane techniques to produce products that would sit forgotten about in bathroom cabinets or kitchen cupboards should be immediately banned. How could we justify killing, for instance, man’s best friend, just to obtain something new to eat or fancy to wear? Animals don’t have a choice and this needs to stop. Animals are living species just like us! How would you had the same level of invasive testing inflicted upon you as these animals often experience on a daily basis…?

Animals are precious to everyone, so why would we test and kill something so special that 83 percent of the world owns.

Inflicting pain on a living organism using inhumane techniques and strategies to produce products that everyone in the world might wear, we should be ashamed of our self. Animals have one life just like us! Why do we test on such cute little things to produce a product that means absolutely nothing to us, for instance- aftershave, toiletries and all day every day uses? What brings to a man’s mind that “I want to inflict lasting pain, suffering and stress to something that is just like us” this is inhumane and horribly disgusting towards organisms that share similar DNA to us.

In my opinion, animal testing should be an illegal act and have life threatening consequences if you disobey these acts of law.

From making animals glow green, to making super-sized cows and hairless chickens all to say it’s for science, what’s so satisfying? Making a cute cuddly rabbit green so it glows in the dark is considered science.

Over feeding chickens to make them overweight, placing steroids in cow’s to make them muscly. All these experiments that are being done on these innocent animals are causing them life threatening pain and also cause give them day to day stress and this is called animal abuse. This genetic engineering aspect of science needs to stop as these are hurting animals for human pleasure. Every single country needs to ban the aspect of animal testing as we shouldn’t operate on animals that haven’t done anything to us and why should we return the violence to them. Genetic engineering isn’t considered cool its considered cruel.

Animal have been repeatedly over used throughout the history of biomedical research, for making cosmetic, medical scientific or historical products. Animal testing started in America by a Greek physician such as Astirole. Started using and proceeding to do experiments on animals in the early 384-322BC, using harmful methods that will cause lasting injuries and possible death to animals such as birds, mice and dogs. Many countries have banned animal testing such as the United Kingdom, Europe and most continents inside China, but the United States of America or the (USA) still have on going experiments using animals for cosmetic items. Animal testing should be banned in every single country due to this is abuse towards a living thing. It may seem funny to some people that testing genetically modified techniques on animals is right but in my eyes, it isn’t. No animal or human self or forced volunteered should undergo testing for science. This is a harmful act towards any living thing and this will have ongoing life consequences.

There is a lot of things that people can do with animal testing, there is a genetics part to the process. Genetically modifying an animal is considered as animal testing, where you take genes from different types of species and you surgically insert the gene into the animal during the process. Some of the genetically modified experiments done on the poor animals like, glow in the dark Cats and pigs, where a gene from a jellyfish is added and inserted into the test subject to make them glow in the dark when the lights are turned off. Another experiment that was done on the animals is cloning, where the same animal being experimented on is replicated. There experiments used are inhumane towards the animals, with the techniques used can cause stress and long lasting pain towards the animals life and could cause death is taken too seriously. A lot of people ask, what is genetic engineering and is it legal to perform on animals? Yes, throughout the EU and the United Kingdom animal testing is completely banned but however it isn’t banned in the United States of America. Some of the experiments are necessary, most of the experiments formed are for scientific research like cancer and also for every day uses in life.

Animal testing isn’t free, the people performing the experiments are costing them a lot of money, but remember. It’s all in the name of “science”. The United States of America spends 16 billion dollars alone each year on animal testing. If we stop animal testing today, think about how much money countries would save for special needs like healthcare and also facilities for the ongoing growing population. We are potencually making tax payers pay for animal testing and making them own the title of killing an innocent animal. Over 1200 project experiments proceeded on animals are costing the United States of America over $500,000,000 dollars each year to do animal testing. If we stop doing unnecessary experiments on animals then the whole world would be a better place and think about how much more money we would save not doing experiments on animals. More money can be spent on things that the world need and the people that need the money the most than doing experiments on cute little animals.

The harmful use of animals in experiments is not only cruel but also often ineffective. Animals do not get many of the human diseases that people do, such as major types of heart disease, many types of cancer, HIV, Parkinson’s disease, or schizophrenia. Instead, signs of these diseases are artificially induced in animals in laboratories in an attempt to mimic the human disease. Yet, such experiments belittle the complexity of human conditions which are affected by wide-ranging variables such as genetics, socio-economic factors, deeply-rooted psychological issues and different personal experiences. We need to take into consideration that animals are just as important as humans and they deserve the most equal life like we live day to day. Animals are living organisms just like us and they deserve the most equal life like a human being lives day to day and we should consider them like humans. How would you feel if you got given the same abuse as these animal’s get put through on a day to day basis? No, you wouldn’t so why should we put animals through the same pain as you don’t want to experience.

In conclusion to my discursive essay, animal testing should be completely banned from every single country in the world no matter what cosmetic or biological use they are trying to investigate as this is causing pain and suffering towards the animal and potential animal lovers, why would we cause pain to something so cute and beautiful to something that more than half the world owns as pets. No living thing should endure the pain and suffering these animals see just to say it was in the name of science? The people who operate on the animals just to make it glow green shouldn’t even be named a scientist they should be considered killers and murders and should experience the pain that the animals cause and get on a daily basis.
