Media is the most common source of information that people rely on when it comes to getting information and news of what is trending. On the other side it is also a main source of information that emphasizes the opinions and emotions about a certain issue which deprives people from getting true facts. What to think and what not to, what to trust and what not to, who to believe and who to not to, are all controlled by the media as a result the viewers become the victims of this bias.
Firstly, bias in media has a negative influence on public’s interest in politics. Many politicians are victimized by the media where false information about them is depicted to the whole world or misrepresented them by showing inglorious pictures to demean them. Most of them end up giving up and discouraged owing to the fact that many people are on the side of the media, this leads to failure mostly in campaigns when one is running for a post in politics.
This is a great challenge to most of the people who want to engage in politics because their hopes are dampened by this ill treatment of some politicians making them lose all the interest in politics. Here women are also affected as this unfairness is mostly towards women politicians which develops that mindset that they are weak and they can neither handle anything nor air out their ideas because they think no one will be on their side and that that challenge is too hard to overcome which is the reason to why only few women are in politics.
According to this analysis media bias really makes one lose interest in politics because they show their sides and what they want the viewers to get not what is right.
What is more is that, the viewers are misinformed and forced to believe what might not be true abut a very serious and necessary issue. Not all information is to be hid from people seeing that it may perturb their lives, this is to mean that media should give actuality in place of their judgements and to the fact that point of views can help to get the idea of how a certain problem can be solved should be subsequent to giving reality and approach their ideas after. This misinforming creates another image in the viewer’s mind where he or she starts to believe what they want him or her to believe which is a lie most of the time. Most girls are affected by what is portrayed on social media, television shows of what an ideal body shape should be which make them try to be like that ending up using perilous ways and put their lives to danger because they believed what was not true. In case of a war, media can give false information about a certain conflict between its country and its neighbors which is false, basing on the fact that people should be kept at ease, and this delusive facts about such an important case can blind the citizens till when the war breaks and people lose their lives as a result of being misinformed.
Conclusively, media should tell the truth and stop enslaving the minds of the viewers forcing them to believe in their opinions and beliefs instead, they should let them decide on which side to go to. Basing on the discussed negative effects of media bias above, it is good and appropriate for the people to draw their own conclusions out of the given information.
