There is a eight year gap between this movie and the previous batman film, so batman is perceived as an older individual and is not in the best physical stature. We are first introduced to the batman character when he helps catch a robber terrorizing the city of Gotham.

He catches the robber but, the Gotham police department is chasing after him because they believe that he is responsible for the death of Harvey Dent.

He is chased all the way downtown where he is then cornered in a little alleyway. While cornered by police we are first introduced to The Bat which is batman's aircraft as he uses this to get away from the police. In this scene the lighting and visual quality were spot on the director made us feel that the city of Gotham were let down by the guy that the city once loved. In order to be accepted again he has to earn the respect he was once given.

He has established a new martial arts discipline called the Keysi fighting method which is designed for batman current physical stature and to defeat his antagonist Bane. Bane’s appearance is a very tall and muscular with a black mask that only covers his mouth. The mask also comes into play with his voice which makes his voice sound intimidating. In the opening scene of this movie three hostages are on a plane accompanied by a commander in charge and his soldiers. The commander wants the hostages to spill the beans about the infamous bane and why he wears the mask. While interrogating the second to last hostage the character bane is revealed when he finally starts to speak. His plan on his path to destruction is to hijack and crash the plane while him and his crew are the lone survivors.

Bane has this famous saying throughout the entire movie “ It doesn't matter who we are what matters is our plan” meaning that there is only one goal out of this not knowing our names and who we are but, to accomplish our plan which is destruction. Shortly after his famous quote some type of destruction always ends up happening. Bane refers to himself as a “liberator of pain” to assert his dominance he does it in a physical and mental aspect. He puts fear in people's hearts not necessarily using violence but, by putting his hands on people’s shoulders he causes a great amount of mental fear of what's going happen to them if they don't abide with what he says.

Another important character in this movie is Cat woman she pretty much playing both sides to the protagonist and antagonist. Cat woman is also dressed in a all black bodysuit with a black mask that always covers her eyes. The relationship she has with Batman is teasing and joyful. She helps Batman come out of his shell following his already punctured mind, body, and soul. We get to know that she is playing both sides when she lures Batman down a vacant sewer and as Batman enters the doors close and lock, meanwhile Bane starts to appear.

The two of them have a battle but, at this time Batman is no match for Bane because his mind, body, and soul is not in the right place. Bane defeats Batman physical and mentally the combination of the two become unbearable for him. Batman gets desperate and cuts off the light but, that only plays in favor to Bane because he was born in and is comfortable with the dark. The symbolizing event in this scene is when Bane gives a devastating blow to batman's face putting a significant dent in his mask resulting to also breaking his back. At the end of this scene Cat women is showing major signs of remorse for how she set up batman. You can visually see and feel that both Batman and Cat woman are going through physical and mental pain following their respected actions. During the second fight between Batman and Bane, Cat woman comes in to save the day when she rescues Batman when he down to his final words with a gun in his face. The Cat woman character makes up for what she did to Batman at the beginning of the film, giving batman another chance to save the day.

In conclusion, The Dark Knight Rises directed by Christopher Nolan is an extraordinary film that uses numerous of methods of tone, setting, and storyline that makes it a film that I can watch just about everyday. Each scene is loaded with action, dialogue, and meaning that helps me get a better understanding of the movie. Without all of this hard work and dedication put into the movie it would not have came out as popular as it did.
