The American Revolution History

The American Revolution also known as "American Revolutionary", was a long-lasting process. It began on April 19, 1775 and ended in 1783. After eight long years of battle for the search for freedom and independence, the North American colonies finally won the fight and managed to obtain the much-desired independence. Throughout history there are derived an endless number of probabilities for which the American Revolution occurred. However, I consider that three of the main events of the American Revolution were: The founding of the colonies, taxes and laws, and intolerable acts.

The founding of the colonies, were first founded by people trying to escape religious persecution in England, and this group of people were better known as Pilgrims. The reason for their persecution was because they broke the Church of England because the Pilgrims believed that the Church had violated the principles of the true Church. They decided to flee and find a place where they could be free to practice their religion without fear of being killed or condemned for doing so.

It was then that they founded Plymouth Colony in 1620. However, as the British government became more involved in the affairs of colonies, people began to worry that they would once again lose their freedom.

The second event was taxation and new rules. The implementation of these new rules was not very pleasant for the colonists. Prior to 1764, the British government allowed the colonists to govern on their own. However, in 1764 the British government began to impose new rules and taxes. Among the rules they implemented are: The Sugar Act in 1764 and The Stamp Act in 1765.

The sugar act basically consists in the taxes on molasses and sugar imported to colonies, and the stamp act consists in taxed legal documents, newspapers and playing cards. While, the British government was thinking that this was a good idea to gain money, the colonist was not happy with the new taxes and laws. The colonists said that they should not have to pay taxes because they are not even part or have a representation in the British Parliament. Also, the colonists implement a motto that became as 'No Taxation Without Representation'. Also, The British decided that the colonies needed to be punished for the Boston Tea Party. They issued a number of new laws that the colonist called the Intolerant Acts.

In addition, The oppression that the British government imposed on them with their laws and taxes for the benefit of their government were some of the causes that led to the fight for the independence of America. The American Revolution was conformed by 13 of Great Britain's North American colonies who won political independence and went on to form the United States of America. Until early in 1778 the conflict was a civil war within the British Empire, but afterward it became an international war as France (in 1778) and Spain (in 1779) joined the colonies against Britain. Meanwhile, the Netherlands, which provided both official recognition of the United States and financial support for it, was engaged in its own war against Britain. Also, The support of the naval forces, army, and alliances allowed those thirteen of Great Britain's North America colonies to become an independent America as we know today.
