This form of social injustice is very common in the American communities, especially in schools and work environments. Although the vice is widespread, racial discrimination is a civil rights issue because it encroaches on the liberties and social freedom of the victimized racial groups. In the United States, many cases of racial discrimination have been neglected and justice has not been established. According to an article in Huffington Post by Rebecca Klein, the department of education misrepresents the data regarding racial discrimination in schools.
Through analysis of the department data, it is established that thousands of cases have not been publicized " The U.S. Department of Education has been receiving thousands more racial discrimination allegations in schools than it has previously publicly reported" (Klein,2018).
Underreporting the allegations of racial discrimination in schools provides the wrong statistics and therefore leads to misinformation of the public, and misrepresentation of the oppressed. Racial discrimination cuts across all racial groups in the United states and negatively affects all racial groups " Allegations involving racial discrimination against white students have been a consistent upstick over the past several years, although the number of overall complaints regarding this type of discrimination remains small" (Klein,2018).
Although the racial discrimination against white students keeps rising over the years, the department of Education presents a remarkably low figure of these case. The huffington post uncovers the inconsistencies in data presentation, in regard to racial discrimination in schools.
The credibility of the Huffington post is determined by the authors and the sources of information.
Rebecca Klein is a professional school reporter and therefore a reliable source of valid information. I have trust in the information presented by the Huffington post because of the detailed information and valid statistical data.
