The first car was invented in 1886 which led to a great innovation of machinery and transportation. As humans advanced in technology, more and more complex ideas came to life.
On December 17, 1903, the first plane was invented, an idea that seemed impossible finally took flight. Now we are living in the 21st century where our lives are so intertwined with technology, new ideas are hard to come up with or even come across.
The autonomous car is an idea that is possible to impact the world in many positive ways; fuel consumption and emissions, safety, and can add up to 2 Trillion dollars in benefits to the U.
S. economy. Fuel consumption has been a growing problem over the generations, so far there have been no solutions for a world with an unquenchable thirst for petroleum oil. Once all the oil in the world has been drained by oil mines, and a well built and substantial solution has been made yet, it could mean the end of the world. With the new technology that autonomous cars have like sensors. This means when vehicles are traveling at a high-velocity it impacts against the air makes the vehicle slow down. When cars travel close together they won’t need to withstand the wind because the car in front of it creates an air vacuum where the air friction isn’t resisting the car. As well as 12 million fully autonomous units sold a year globally.” This shows that if the idea of autonomous cars rapidly grows in popularity and demand then by the near future fully, autonomous cars will seem completely normal.

By the year 2050 having the conventional car will seem just as unlikely as a person riding a horse as their main source of transportation, current day. With so little accidents on the road, mechanic shops can be put out of business or much fewer shops being operated. The only fixing that is needed will be the wear and tear of the electronic components like sensors, the CPU, and motherboards which calls for a much higher level of intellect to repair these essential and complicated parts. These high-utilization rates will spawn a very active secondary market for used pilotless vehicles as companies replace and refresh their fleets.” this demonstrates that truck drivers who would normally need to rest, eat and sleep while driving for weeks at a time can be accomplished with autonomous trucks.
Self-driving trucks don’t need to waste time sleeping and eating, which is a necessity for humans. Autonomous trucks can drive 24/7, only wasting time on refueling or possibly recharging. This will improve shipping rates by cutting down the time to make the delivery, therefore adding to the economy. Autonomous cars can reduce 28 billion dollars annually by minimizing traffic congestion, according to the article www.ark-invest.com, “a reduction in the $28 billion of annual costs associated with traffic congestion from car accidents, not to mention lives saved as the accident rate drops by 80%.” This proves that autonomous cars will cut down billions of dollars from the annual costs to repair vehicles and roads from a car accident.
The reason is, self-driving cars aren’t prone to as many accidents as a normal human driver since they run on incredibly complex algorithms that signal the perfect maneuver to do in this specific scenario. Because of this, there will be much fewer accidents on roads and more time will be made, therefore contributing a huge amount of money and benefits to the economy of the United States. In the near future, autonomous cars will greatly improve society and change the world we live in. As autonomous technology improves there will be more ways self-driving cars can contribute to the world. From cutting down fuel consumption and emissions. Saving more lives and making the roads safer. And adding $2 trillion in benefits to the economy. In other words, autonomous cars are planned to impact the world in many positive ways.
