It is promising to see that our health promotion expenditure increased to millions of pesos last year. It seems like an immense sum, but it just boils down to P10 in the Philippines. It is possible that with more 'sin tax,' this could go up in the years to come. However, it would be too much to expect the DOH to take care of itself. What is crucial is that there is a clear integration mechanism to ensure that there is no duplication of tasks and that priority is given to those activities.

Too much money, effort, and other resources are being wasted due to a lack of communication. A well-organized and productive method can go a long way in achieving health awareness and promoting health in our country. It certainly was not worth the effort. After all, before we can expect real progress, we must be healthy first. Moreover, health campaigns should consider the diverse socio-economic and environmental conditions in different regions. A health program successful in urban areas may not be as effective in rural provinces, highlighting the need for tailored strategies. The challenge lies in creating flexible and adaptable campaigns that address specific community needs.

The recent surge in 'sin tax' revenues offers hope for increased funding, but effective implementation and coordination are paramount. A streamlined approach, avoiding duplication and ensuring prioritization, is essential to maximize resources and foster real progress in health awareness and promotion nationwide.
