My Review Of The Out Now Cable Girls Spanish Series

Categories: Movie Review

Out Now Cable Girls, also known as “Las Chicas del Cable”, is a new Original Spanish Netflix series, it came out in 2017 and has blown everyone’s mind. It shows four young women living in Madrid working for the only telephone company that exists in the Iberian Peninsula in 1920 and learn to navigate through such a progressive workplace, as well as their love lives. It is an amazing series, it is very suspenseful, it shows the life of women in that century, it has great love triangles, etc.

I will give you reasons why you should watch Cable Girls.

The series starts out with the main character Alba who changes her name to Lydia and moves to a new place where she meets a new man named Carlos. Her mission was to rob the company Carlos worked at. Little did she know her first lover Francisco worked there too and was the head of the company. After time progressed she started dating Carlos, but the feelings for Francisco were still there.

She was caught between two loves, her first love and the person she began to love after a long time of refusing love. There is also another love story between one of Lydia’s friends named Carlota and her boyfriend Miguel. Carlota starts to get feelings for a woman, which at that time was unacceptable. Carlota and Miguel talk about it and they decide to have a three-way relationship, but that doesn’t end well, Carlota has to decide who to stay with.

In a way, those relationships are love triangles which I find very interesting because you know the person loves both of them but has to choose who she loves more or who is better for her and who she will stay with.

Women in that century were not equal to men at all. There was a lot of sexism at that time, this series shows women trying to overcome that which is something that I personally find amazing and empowering. There is one character named Ángeles who was being abused by her husband and there was nothing she could do to stop it. She tried looking for help but every law was in favor of her husband, she had no other option than just to stay with him and be abused. Another example is Lydia creating a prototype for the company and because she was a woman they didn’t want her to present it because no one would take it seriously. This is something that is still present at this time but by seeing this series you will see how it has changed or progressed.

This series has a very interesting plot, with Lydia having a really big problem and the way she’s trying to get out of it. But also, there are many interesting stories inside that, such as Carlota’s love triangle, Ángeles and what she will do to get out of her abusive relationship, Lydia’s somewhat of a love triangle, etc. This series always leaves you wanting more and more and it always has you in suspense. While I was watching it I couldn’t get enough, I finished one episode and had to watch the next one because I needed to know what was going to happen next.

Now that I have told some of the great things about Cable Girls I really hope you watch it, so you can find out who Lydia and Carlota choose. How Ángeles will leave or if she doesn’t leave her abusive relationship and much more. Not only am I saying it is an amazing series, but it has an audience score of 90% of people liking it and a 4.5/5 rating score in Rotten Tomatoes.
