Education is a key to success because it helps us develop a new perspective of looking at life. The more knowledge I gain the more opportunities will open up. There are many goals and many careers in the real life to achieve.
I find myself in engineering since I believe it is related to commitment, challenging and brainstorming. I have potential and skills to manage time and complete assigned tasks in due diligence. I built my own personal computer from scratch and made things function after being broken.
I can easily adapt to new situations and problems and get the job done right. I find engineering is one of the greatest jobs that someone can wish for due to the fact that there is no limit for creativity and accomplishing phenomenal inventive techniques to make a difference in other people’s lives. Scientists dream about doing great things. Engineers do them.
There is no greater reward than contributing back to the society.
I am currently studying Advanced level Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Arabic at Hillcrest School & Sixth Form Centre. Mathematics is a language of the physical science and engineering. I enjoy solving mathematical problems because it develops my intellectual maturity and it taught me that there is more than one way to tackle a problem and practice makes permanent. Mathematics is useful in everyday life it helps us managing money, figuring out distance, time and cost for travel to variety of places and assists in our understanding of loans for cars, homes or other purposes that we might need in the soon future.
Studying the fundamental principles of the universe has directed me to think critically and ask questions to enhance my understanding of the different topics in physics.
Newton’s Laws of motion tie into almost everything we see in our daily basis. It tells us how things move or if it is at rest and control how vehicle works and how buildings don’t fall down and how everything around us is moving. Applying these laws in real life situations is essential to predict how things would work before they were built.
To ensure that I get the most of my work experience I worked with RPS Group for a week and they are a multinational energy resources and environmental consultancy company. During this period I have been taught that safety is the most important thing. On the site, I have to wear the steel-toe boot to protect my foot from heavy, falling objects. I have been given many architectural plans to work on using AutoCAD and been supervised by an engineer. The architectural plan contained drawings of streets and houses with a front garden. I have to put different layout of kerbing to streets, gardens, tactile paving and sewages in different colours and shapes. I also have to plot coordinates to find where the houses are going to be constructed. Using AutoCAD I learned that different engineers use it in their preferred way. Some of them prefer to type a command and others prefer to use what is in front of them. Luckily I had the chance to learn plenty of ways from different engineers and I preferred commands over using the program itself because it’s a bit faster in my opinion.
Outside my academic study, I am interested in travel and sports. I learnt to set a timetable for myself to increase my productivity during the academic year. I believe that I have the personal attributes and the academic ability to successfully study mechanical engineering and complete the professional training to become a qualified engineer.
