My future career goal is to be a phlebotomist. Phlebotomists draw and prepare blood for medical testing, transfusion or donation. They are trained to collect blood via venipuncture, finger pricks, etc. They work in hospitals, clinics, outpatient care facilities, laboratories and blood donation centers. Phlebotomy is an excellent opportunity for anyone who can handle being around blood, needles, and likes working with people.
Although it can be considered an entry-level career, I feel that is a better option than other careers.
I want to become a phlebotomist because I like helping and working with people. At my previous job, I was a Patient Care Technician and drew blood as one of my job duties. I became good at it and I have adored doing it ever since. Patients used to tell me that I would not be able to draw their blood because they either did not have any veins, or I would not be able to find it.

To their surprise, I was able to draw their blood, and it made me feel like I accomplished a goal. I liked when they told me "I didn't feel a thing, you are a natural." I continued to work on getting better and I began thinking that I could make this an actual career goal. It is so important to enjoy working with people because you end up meaning a lot more to a patient than what you might expect. A lot of people experience bad blood draws if you commit to being great at what you do you can get rid of those fears and memories of bad experiences.
Phlebotomy is a good career choice because it does not take much training.
It can be about 4 to 8 months. You can even take it online if you have a busy schedule. They must prepare patients for blood draws, verify patient identities and ensure proper labeling of collection and guide nervous patients through blood draws. Blood tests are common because they help to save lives and diagnose medical conditions. Some of the conditions that can be found with a simple blood test include allergies, stud’s anemia, infections, and prostate cancer. I want to be a phlebotomist because phlebotomy is a good stepping stone certification in phlebotomy can provide a solid foundation upon which to build. In this field, you can be working and earning money while you pursue additional training. It can be stressed at times depending where you're at. For example, in the emergency rooms or trauma centers, the level of stress often runs high. I know that there are certain risks there is a danger of being accidentally stuck with a contaminated needle and contracting a serious as a result. There are risks of injuring patients missing the vein and causing nerve damage misappropriating an artery causing an arterial bleed.
Working in the medical field you need to have people skills no matter what. Pay attention to detail have an ability to be a part of a team standing on your feet for hours at a time which is very hard to do. Must be patient and compassionate for what you do. Phlebotomy can influence my education and goal setting by continuing going to school, so I can have knowledge that I can get there is never enough education. Learning the skill offers valuable understanding that makes landing the right job and the desired level of advantage on more likely, both immediately and in the future. This job will be a starting point, but my goal is to move up into a position as a clinical laboratory technician or a nurse.
One of the most exciting parts of being a phlebotomist is that you can work with different people every day. Depending on where you choose to work. You could see dozens of patients a day. You automatically must develop the skills to successfully draw blood. The medical field needs more remarkable phlebotomists.
