Winter is the coldest season of the year especially in the polar and temperate climates. It is caused by the tilt of the Earth’s axis in the direction away from the sun. The days are shorter and the nights are longer at the northern or southern hemisphere. Growing up in Europe has contributed to who I am and the values I have. Because of the location, we notice the four seasons vividly. All children deserve to grow up while presence in snow days at school, Christmas movies, hot Chocolate before bed, food, family, and fellowship.
Of the four seasons in a year, summer, winter, autumn, spring; winter is my favorite because the holidays, weather, and the memories I've experienced.
To begin with, my first memory of a winter was in Florida at my Auntie Sharon's house.
Although the memory is dating as far back as being three years old, I can recognize vivid and cheerful moments. The majority of the winter holidays I recall were spent with my mother's close friend Louise.
The prevalence of all Christmas music was listened to while I was joyful and happy, now when I hear my favorite Christmas hymns or songs I can't help but look back at my childhood.
Also, at the age of five I did join the school choir in my private primary school in England, just so happens to be around the holidays during that time. Lastly, a memory I'm fond about was visiting my Grandmother after she moved away from England.
Furthermore, there is just something about the cold weather that is comforting.
For that reason, growing up in the Britain, as a country we celebrate fireworks day.
In the 5th of November, 1605 Guy Fawkes planned a gunfire plot to assassinate King James, although he failed, Guy was punished and every year on the 5th of November, we celebrate. This is something to look forward to annually. Fireworks are set off everywhere, the colors are vibrant, extravagant, and so picturesque. The city of London and most open parks are people gathered around enjoying food, company, and music. It's like a little Bombay down there.
Whenever it snows, all of us get the opportunity to wear our favorite winter coats, gloves, and scarfs. Our days are always brighter when it snows. However, schools could be closed down prolonged periods of time causing make up time after summer holiday. Having one to three snow days during winter is incredible though. One of my marvelous snow days I had will forever be in my memory. After receiving the wonderful news from the schoolboards across the U.K. My friends and I went gallivanting in the snow. Everyone had a superb time having snowball fights, building snow forts, snowmen, and sledding down hills. In summary, winter is my favorite season because of the holidays, weather, and memories I've experienced. All children deserve to grow up while presence in snow days at school, Christmas movies, hot Chocolate before bed, food, family, and fellowship. Lastly, whenever it snows, all of us get the opportunity to wear our favorite winter coats, gloves, and scarves.
