Although movies and other popular entertainment have portrayed artificial intelligence (AI) in some form for many decades, it has become a very real thing in the past decade. More recently, there have been many concerns over whether or not AI will help American workers or further automate and subsequently take many American jobs. The simple answer to this is yes, AI automation will almost certainly automate many jobs as well as change the way many jobs are performed, harming millions of American workers.

Despite being a relatively new concern, AI automation has many experts worried. In fact, according to AI expert and venture capitalist Kai Fu Lee, over 40% of the world's jobs will be replaced by robots that are capable of automating tasks. Some of the most affected people in Kai's opinion are drivers. People who Chauffeur, drive trucks, or just drive for a living will be affected greatly by the rise of self-driving cars in the next few decades. Another problem with this argument is that jobs involving AI are usually specialized, and would certainly require some form of education at the last, and likely a degree for a certain specialization. Because of this, many of the Americans who will be left unemployed will not be able to find a new job that revolved around AI because they have no experience or know-how.

All that can be hoped for is that its impacts towards workers are minimal, but sadly this is not likely. Many American workers will most likely be left unemployed and helpless with the rise of AI.
