My Father’s Experience of Volunteering
His childhood was difficult where he lived in a meager environment with his six brothers in a dilapidated house. His father died while he studied the seventh grade and became responsible for his mother and brothers; However, he was always selling vegetables after finishing school to bring dinner for his mother and his brothers. When he was in college, he married my mother and told her that he wanted doing something for the poor people, so he collected money with my mother and donated it to organizations of charity. After that when he became a teacher, he did a volunteer project with his students, He also made his family contributed in the project where we donated clothes and food. The school honored my father for what he did and he felt so proud and grateful.
At the beginning of the month of Ramadan, my father always put a big tent in front of our house to provide food to fasting people and it was free without pay. We cooked the food and put it in the tent. Our neighbors were impressed by my father’s idea, and they helped us and shared the rest of the food and gave it to the people who could not attend. It has become a tradition for my family and our neighbors, we really enjoyed helping people. My father always says, “The Smallest action can be a big thing for the others. “He likes to read the news, so he read about some poor villages that need water and then he decided to talk to the churches that help to dig wells in the poor villages where he helped dig two wells, one in Nepal and the other in Somalia. So, they can drink water wells.
My Father Inspired the Whole Family
My father inspired my brothers and I, we wanted to make him see that he influenced us in a positive way. We did a voluntary job. My sister participated in cleaning the sea of waste. Also, my brother joined in planting trees in parks. Even I volunteered to work in the hospital, and I read to the elderly and I helped the patients in the exercises because I am a physiotherapist. We could do volunteer work because we saw our father doing it. When I want to talk about my father, I felt speechless because of the wonderful things he taught us. For me, he is my hero and I hope the other people to become the heroes of their children like my father.
