One advantage of friction I use regularly in my daily life is having the ability to write where I can write on a paper or on a board due to friction, this type of friction is called static friction that exists between a stationary object and the surface on which it’s resting. When I hold a pencil or pen and start writing friction allows me to write and that is created when the tip of the pencil or pen is brought in contact with the surface of the paper whereas, sliding friction comes into action too which place lead on paper. A similar concept example is when using an eraser I apply some force on the eraser which helps in wiping off the want content.

On the other hand, a clear disadvantage of friction I use more oftenly even though it’s necessary in life is that the engines of automobiles and cellphones consume more fuel which is a money loss. I use my phone everyday where that requires friction for there to be any hold on the phone, but the rapid use of it causes an unfavorable imbalance in the ratio of usable energy to waste energy because it produces waste energy in large quantities as friction forces the machine to produce a lot of heat waste which results in the inefficiency of the machine and as a result, this slows down the work produced by this machine. An example commonly observed in our daily lives is in the car’s engine too.

Overall If it wasn’t for friction, nothing would have been able to stand still even though it is not always a good thing such as when it produces heat but most of the time unnecessary heat leading to the wastage of energy of various objects that can slow it down. A life with no friction would be difficult, we won’t be able to get through our day simply although people try to reduce it such as a lot of tech talk is about “reducing friction” friction is the main reason were doing things.
