Abortion in the United States

To maintain women’s rights, health, and safety abortions must be an available option to all women in the United States. Women should be able to choose whether or not to bear a child, and if she does not wish to carry a child they should be able to have a healthy way to terminate the fetus. If women are not granted this opportunity they will still find ways to get rid of the child, even if it is illegal. The Constitution protects a woman’s right to have an abortion, and if abortions are made illegal it will go against the supreme law of the land.

It seems obvious that it is best for women and for America to allow abortions to remain legal.

As I mentioned earlier, women have a right to decide what to do with their bodies and if they do not wish to carry a child they should not have to. Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood said, “No woman can call herself free until she can choose consciously whether she will or will not be a mother.” There are many reasons that a woman would choose to have an abortion but whatever the reason, it is a woman’s moral right to decide whether or not to get the procedure.

A woman’s desire to have an abortion is not going to go away. People will find other ways to have the procedure even if it goes against the law. Additionally, abortions would be done in unsafe conditions and it would be a risk to their overall health. If the government restricts a woman’s right to abortion it will negatively affect the women in our country physically.

The 19th Amendment of the United States Constitution supports gender equality. The right to have an abortion is vital to maintaining gender equality and women’s rights. There have been many legal cases that were taken to the Supreme Court regarding women’s rights to abortions in the United States. According to the Supreme Court judges, taking away a woman’s right to abortion goes against her rights that are clearly stated in the constitution. One could agree that taking away the right to have an abortion throws away all the rights that women have worked hard to obtain in the past.

It is often said that abortions are unmoral because the procedure takes the life of a human being before it is even born. Anyone with a pro-life point of view will say that our society resents murder but we are all too comfortable taking away a child’s life through abortion. However, the fetus is terminated while it is still an embryo and it does not have the opportunity to grow into a human. When abortions are performed they are removing an organism that has not developed enough for it to be unethical. It is worth bearing in mind that abortions are not allowed for women after the first trimester of their pregnancy because this is when the embryo grows into a child.

Abortion is a topic that is very controversial in the United States. Thousands of people debate whether having a procedure to abort an embryo is ethical or not. Our country is torn in half with 48% of people having the opinion that having an abortion is morally wrong. It is in America’s favor to allow abortions to remain legal for anyone who wishes to have the procedure. A large amount of the United States’ population expects abortion to remain at least mostly legal in the future. Taking everything that has been said into account, it is unconstitutional, threatening women’s health, and safety risks to ban abortions in the United States.
