An individual must be outbraved by the problem of occupational choice. Everybody faces different problems such as choosing their future careers which is really essential. Many people such as parents, teachers, and career officers help the students in selecting their careers. Conceivably, the importance of career choice can be accentuated by the influence careers that an individual have such as, standard of living, status in the society, and emotional health and feelings of self-worth. In choosing the right career for an individual helps lessen the need of recourse in education.

Likewise, an individual's chosen career will affect their lives because it withstand the clarity and meaning of life that they intend to have. Hence, it is better to know different information regarding their chosen career and other recommendations to make appropriate career decisions.

Condign need for specialization at the workplace is extremely crucial nowadays. Consequently, selecting a career is not an easy thing and it requires a direct undertaking.

It is also a complex and daunting endeavor because the decision is affected by various factors. There are main intrinsic factors that are responsible for influencing career choice decisions which includes an individual's personality, interests, and attitudes. On the other hand, social contacts, availability of resources such as information and finances, ethnic background, level of educational attainment, choice of subjects of study and differences in job characteristics are the extrinsic factors that could affect an individual's choice of career.

While others are heavily influenced either by professions that their parents favour or the ones that their educational achievements have opened for them.

Eventually, some individuals are strictly influenced by careers that offers higher beneficiaries which includes salary and allowances. However, there are also those who choose to follow the careers that they have a passion for regardless of the potentiality of the benefits, for the reason that a career is a critical element in determining an individual's daily routine, life activities, standard of living, and social aspects of life. In fact a career affects the sequence of one's entire life. Although there are differences among various population groups, generally extrinsic influence on career choice decisions are mostly influenced by parents, peers, friends, relatives, role models, teachers, and most especially the career counsellors. However, the boundary to which each of them influences career choice decisions varies from one population to another.

Before making career choices, students are usually provided with a list of careers from which they are supposed to choose with. Although, most students lack adequate information regarding various careers, the choices that they make are embedded in their perception of the ideal job and the subjects that they have studied in secondary schools. Perhaps the only support students get within the school system is from career masters or counselors who are expected to support each and every student in their career choice. Hence, each course requires examination that will foretell if the student has sufficient knowledge about the chosen career. The exam will be the basis is the students are ready for admission. Nonetheless, career choice will always vary depending on the students adequate learning and experience.

Statement of the Problem

Education plays a major role in having a good job that is rewarding/fulfilling as an achievement for the success of an individual. The graduates of several courses invested time and money to attain their goals in life. There are reasons why individuals seek for jobs as follows: earn money, self-expression, personal development, and prestige. After graduation, graduates believe that they already have the right skills and expertise to be employed but this is not the reality. Today's world is very competitive, a lot of graduates seek for job opportunities. Students resort to common jobs like call center agents, waiters, or blue collar jobs just to sustain the needed income for everyday life. According to Robst (2007) workers who have degrees adequately related to their job earn more than those workers who are mismatched. Before graduating from college, students think of what will happen in the future. Good education really matters a lot and will truly determine a person's state of living.

Scope and Delimitation

The research involves only the people in Metro Manila, for the results gathered apply only to the inhabitants of Metro Manila. The researcher's time and power are limited for they are students, so the results the researchers are able to obtain are restricted only to a city-wide gathering of information. Only those students who were able to complete their degrees are included in the research, however the research sets aside those were not able to finish their education or not have one at all.

Significance of the study

The Philippines Statistics Authority say that in the rising 5.3% unemployment rate in October 2018; 24% of these were college graduates, 27.5% have completed junior high school. The part time-workers who work less than 40 hours in a week are 57% of the underemployed. The number of college-educated unemployed, self-employed and underemployed points out the remaining gaps leading to job-skills mismatch that needs to be addressed in order to tap the full productive potential of a young Filipino labor force.

These are the prevalent issues that are currently happening in the Philippines that are currently not being addressed. Why are individuals who have invested in their education are unemployed, have a mismatched job or are underemployed. The research would like to investigate the factors relating to employability and why are college graduates not securing a job.

How does education really affect one's employability, or does it even affect it all in our society today? Is education still a reliable source of credibility and what are employers looking for? These are just a few questions our research would like to answer.

  1. Incoming college students - Planning the right career path and shaping the future of college students ahead of time is getting more important. It is better to consider the inclined college degree and interest for searching the right employment to avoid experiencing issues in labor force. The students must gain their degree and enhance their skills for their particular education degree.
  2. Unemployed individuals- After graduating with an academic degree, there are a lot of job opportunities that are waiting for graduates. Choosing a job that matches the individual's standards might be difficult due to their low academic level and unskilled graduates. Proper planning and taking the right job may avoid these issues addressed and improve their knowledge and skills of an individual's right choice of employment.
