In today’s society, some would say that we have moved past our differences and that we have fully accepted one another as we are. Those people are the dreamers and begrugent nonbelievers that wish not to accept the truth of what this world and the efforts of those from the past have become. It is sad to recognize that the efforts of the past have been drastically obstructed, if the social warriors of the past saw the conditions of today’s society, they would cry, especially those that fought for peaceful equality.

In this essay it will be brought to the front the reality of how sexism still plays its hand in social interactions to this day. The first paragraph will state the way women were treated in the beginning and the path they took to get here. The next will discuss the results of their actions and the steps modern women took over the line to get us to where we are today.

The final body paragraph will bring to front the state of disrepair we are in. In no means does the paragraph imply the women from the beginning of this all stood tall for no reason, however we can no longer look blindly at how far the roles of men and women have swapped and how it came with an unhealthy dose of sexism towards men, this is why I ask, have we marched too far. So, in short, this essay will discuss the evolution of the treatment of women, the results of their efforts to fight back, and how that has shaped the modern women's attitude towards men.

Before the women’s rights act, women were treated like they were just help. Women were not allowed to get jobs, they had to stay home and cook for their families even if they didn’t want one. Women were not allowed to vote, they were told who they were following year after year. Women were not allowed to drink, but they were made to work in a bar to support their children, oh but it wasn’t drinks they were touching for money! Women were not allowed to own property, but from the day they were born they were basically owned by their fathers. After years of pushing through women had had enough, in July,1848 the first meeting of The Seneca Falls Convention took place in New York. This meeting launched the women's suffrage movement, which, seven decades later succeeded in gaining women the right to vote. After that the United States was ablaze through decades of brave strong women standing up to their unfair treatment. Strong women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the founder of The Seneca Falls Convention, or Alice Paul and the rest of the women in her group that became famous for when they were held in prison for their peaceful protest from 1916-1917 all through the two years in front of the white house, for when while in prison they were force fed while they were on hunger strike for being imprisoned for peacefully protesting. These women were strong, and they stopped at nothing to get what they knew was right for them to have.

From one protest to the next they popped up like fireflies on a summer evening, but unlike fireflies their flame did not spark then fade out, no their flames grew brighter and brighter into one giant fire across America of voices crying out. From the right to vote and to all of the above, they marched for the right to do as they pleased. However, as the movement has continued through the later years unnecessary protests began popping up more and more. In the 1960 some women began burning their bras for all sorts of reasons, either to rebel against men or for women's rights, or so they didn’t have to wear their bras. Then there were more random uncorrelated movements though none as stand-out-ish as a very recent and very dangerous movement #METOO. This movement started out innocently as a way for people who had been raped to confess and feel they were not alone, but slowly turned into something darker. It had women lying on the internet not caring of the consequences, just so they could target some man, not always because of money, sometimes for something darker. These men would get no trial, no delve into whether it was true or not, they got a public execution the second the post rang through the internet. People who had no Idea what was really going on would begin attacking this man verbally and aggressively, a man who in some cases was innocent. It didn’t matter if he didn’t do it the accusation was made. People he knew in real life even if the girl or woman added his real name would treat him like a suspect, and if people got riled up enough, he could get attacked, physically beaten in real life and no one would bat an eye at the innocent man because he was accused online by a woman to be a rapist.

The children of a new age raised by brave women who had been hurt and suppressed by the male gender, taught about all the wrongs men have done, about all the times they had to fight back, about how men didn’t care. What were these children to become? The women who attack innocent men online, the men who lift their fists, or their words to innocent accused men, and the people who would turn a blind eye to these attacks because a woman said he raped her. There is a blind mentality to the fact that not all men hate women, what exactly birthed this idea isn't exactly clear, because the brave women who faught as peacefully as they could for these women's right to type on a computer would never have taught them to do any of these things, they fought to stand beside a man at a desk and be given the same treatment no matter what, to have both the man and herself, both be treated with 100% equality. Not even one of them would approve of the actions we are just letting pass us by. If a man gets raped by a woman, they say it is a lie. A single father used to be praised now they are barley acknowledged it is all about the single moms and how hard they have it.

A child is normally given to the mother, who could be insane, but they do not care, if there is a divorce, and the husband is assumed to be the reason for the divorce. A man gets abused by his wife and he will not say anything, why? Because our society has deemed that a man can abuse a woman, but a woman can’t abuse a man. A father and child cannot run from an abusive wife because if she does not hurt the child there is no abuse. Shelter have had o denied fathers and children because they have protocols in to let women and children in first and since it's wrong to make a child separate from their parent the father must go back to their abusive wife with the child. We have silenced men and taught them they cannot cry. You wonder why men have trouble with emotions, its because we taught them that they don’t have any. Though men are not being forced into the kitchen, women are being allowed to cry wolf and use them and abuse them. They are being treated like robots who are made to help a woman make a child and do anything they desire, and if they don’t want to too bad. In this day and age, we have allowed sexism to hide in the cracks of are darkest corners, and its starting to seep into the light.
