Do remember the past when you drove your car, when the air was fresh when we had an ozone layer? Now our future generations are suffering the pain of no ozone layer, which our society has made global warming. Why is Global Warming/Climate Change so important to the world? When a region of the world is in the hot season, you sometimes see record high temperatures. When the cold season approaches, you might also see record lows. One might also see more flooding, earthquakes, temperature swings, droughts, snowfall, and changing weather behavior.

Climate change is a change in global or regional climate patterns. The Earth’s climate has changed throughout history. In the last 650,000 years, there have been seen cycles of glacial advance and retreat. The planet’s average surface temperature has risen about 2.0 degrees Fahrenheit since the late 19th Century.

The oceans are getting warmer, and they are absorbing more heat because of the increase in the earth’s temperature is rising.

There have been a lot of arguments going on about the earth’s climate changes. The carbon dioxide absorbed by the upper layer of the oceans is increasing by about two billion tons per year.

Some studies are showing are showing dramatic declines in some crops over the next 50 years The shortages, and the threat of food prices spikes could lead to unrest. As temperatures rise 2-4 degrees, there are limits to how far our current trajectory is. It is saying that no one is safe. The only way out is to cut emissions now.

Climate change also poses a threat to human security, and could also lead to increased migration. Potential shortages of food and water because of climate change could be drivers of future conflicts. Scientists agreed that the earth’s rising temperatures are fueling longer and hotter heat waves, more droughts, more rainfall, and even more powerful hurricanes like we saw this year.  As the oceans temperature is rising, that can cause tropical storms to pick up more energy, which can make it more dangerous. Like I said earlier in this essay Antarctica is losing tons of ice per year since 2002, and the rate could speed up if humans keep burning fossil fuels at our current pace, and that also means the sea/ocean levels will rise tremendously.

Floods and droughts will become stronger if people on this earth do not do anything about them. Less fresh water will be available, and if the Quelccaya icecap continues to melt at the current rate, all of the freshwaters will be gone by 2100, leaving thousands of people who rely on drinking water and having electricity without of source of either.

The wildlife research scientist Martyn Obbard found out that since the mid-1980s, the earth is losing ice which means there are fewer fish to eat for food, and he also found out that the polar bears have gotten considerably skinnier. By saying that the polar bears have gotten skinnier, polar bear biologist Ian Stirling found a similar pattern in the Hudson Bay. Ian Stirling said that he fears that if sea ice disappears, the polar bears will as well.

This is the main reason why the earth’s temperature is rising. We are destroying the ozone layer. The more we keep destroying the ozone layer, the earth’s temperature will continue to rise. That is why you see a lot of odd weather patterns happening this year.

From a broad perspective, all weather events are now connected to climate change.  While our understanding of how climate change affects extreme weather is still developing, evidence suggests that extreme weather may be affected even more than anticipated. Extreme weather is on the rise, and the indications are that it will continue to increase, in both predictable and unpredictable ways.
